NALSAR, Hyderabad Wins IIM Bangalore's Parliamentary Debating Championship 2009

Previous

Post the panel discussion, NALSAR Hyderabad took on National Law School Bangalore in the grand finale of the debate. The motion for the debate was "This house believes that inclusive growth is a myth". Prolific debaters from both the sides emphatically
presented their views on what it means for India to ensure that all sections of the society reap the benefits of growth without penalizing those sections that are doing well and contributing significantly to this growth. The debaters raised such issues like the meaning of equality of itself, and the feasibility and political will for an inclusive growth plan to work. Mr. Suhel Seth was the chief adjudicator for the debate.

While awarding the debate to NALSAR, Mr. Seth stressed on the importance of organizing such debating competitions and appreciated IIM Bangalore's initiative in doing so. Gagandeep Singh of Delhi School of Economics was adjudged the Best Speaker and Leeneshwari of NLS Bangalore was adjudged the Best Adjudicator for the event.

The event concluded with wide-spread appreciation from the audience for the organizers and the sponsor of the event. Students and faculty members from several business schools in and around Bangalore attended the event. In these times of cost-cutting, when most such events look to put together just the bare minimum, IIM Bangalore's Debating Society, with the generous support of Standard Chartered, pulled off an event of a fabulous scale and form.

Concluded.
