Industry Experts Taking Part in Finomena 2009-10 at Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi South Campus (UDSC)

Master of Business Economics (MBE), the flagship program of Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi South Campus (UDSC), hosted its Annual Finance & Consulting Seminar - Finomena 2009-10, under the aegis of its Finance Club - Blue Chips. Held in the S. P. Jain Auditorium, UDSC, on September 19, 2009, the event saw the participation of various colleges and B-Schools, and Industry Experts. The theme for the conclave was 'A Discussion on Current Investment Verticals', which concentrated on investment issues pertaining to the Capital Market and on aspects of consulting and value management.

The first session - 'Financial Markets: Investment Issues', focused on the new-age investment techniques used in the industry and the various technicalities that need to be taken care of in case of each investment opportunity. Industry experts such as Mr. Manoj Maheshwari (CFO - Bajaj Hindustan Ltd.), Mr. Sandeep Nautiyal (Regional Head, North East: Alternate Sales Channels - UTI Mutual Fund), and Mr. Pranav Haldea (Director - PRIME Database) presented their views and insights on investment routes such as Mergers & Amalgamations, Mutual Funds, and the IPO Market.

The second session - 'Consulting: Value Management', which focused on how the value of an organization can be accurately ascertained and maximized, saw speakers such as Mr. Rakesh Singhal (DGM - SBI), Mr. Arvind Garg (CEO - Walnut Financial Advisory Pvt. Ltd.), and Mr. Sunil Thakur (Senior VP - Investment Banking, Religare Capital Markets) put across their opinion on issues like the credibility of Credit Rating Agencies, Private Equity, and the balance between management of assets and profitability. A Finance Quiz was also conducted at the end of the two sessions, where both, students of MBE, as well as other B-Schools and Colleges participated, and took home prizes.
