VP Royal Bank of Scotland Visits XLRI, Jamshedpur

The Finance Association at XLRI conducted a guest lecture on the 29th of September on the campus. The topic for the session was Fixed Income Securities, one of the hottest fields in finance currently.

The speaker was Mr. Udayan Chakrabarti, who is an XLRI alumnus of the batch of 1999 and is currently the VP-Fixed Income Securities Trading Division of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He started his talk by giving a broad overview of the entire banking sector and gave the audience an understanding of the various types of banking operations. He then focussed on bond trading and gave illuminating insights on aspects such as pricing, strategies and trading mechanisms. The audience was appreciative of the knowledge they were getting from a seasoned professional and enthusiastically asked questions, which he fielded with equal élan. He also answered some of the burning questions about what job opportunities and functions are available in the finance sector and how should the students model their approach towards availing them. The lecture was a great success and Mr. Chakrabarti was able to deliver significant value to the participants.

Concluded.
