The Department of Financial Studies (DFS), University of Delhi, under the aegis of University Grants Commission (UGC), Special Assistance Programme, organized the annual UGC-SAP Seminar at S. P. Jain Auditorium. The theme of this year's seminar was
"Global Financial Crisis: Implications for Corporate Strategy & Management Learning". Keeping up with the proud traditions of DFS, this year's seminar featured the who's who of both academia and industry.

The Seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Gagan Rai, CEO & Managing Director, National Securities Depository Ltd. Mr. Rai, in his keynote address, took on the subject of the Subprime Crisis, detailing the genesis and subsequent aftermath of the crisis and thereby kick-starting the Seminar.

The keynote address was followed by an equally enriching talk by the Special Guest Dr. Geoffrey Clements, Managing Director, India Director, Commonwealth Business School, UK on the European perspective of Sub Prime Mortgage Crisis.

This was followed by an engaging and motivating lecture by Prof. Dinesh Singh, Director, South Campus, on what are the core values we need to adhere to and how a university system goes beyond mere research and contributes holistically to the society.

The Inaugural Session was followed by two Technical Sessions which were graced by experts from the financial sector who held forth on wide ranging topics. Among the plethora of distinguished dignitaries gracing the occasion was Mr. R. Nagarajan, Executive Director, Finance, PFC, who spoke about the new paradigms required for Raising Capital. He was joined by Mr. Sanjay Sinha, CEO, DBS Cholamandalam AMC, whose speech centered around how the strategies need to be revaluated under the current redemption pressures being faced by the Mutual Funds and the future outlook.

He was followed by Mr. Saibal Ghosh, CIO, Aegon Religare Life Insurance, who spoke about Investing in Insurance Markets, and then Mr. Kuljit Singh, Partner, E&Y, who discussed about the Infrastructure Sector under the Changing Financial Landscape. The session was moderated by Mr. Subhomoy Bhattachargee, Deputy Executive Editor, Financial Express.
