IIM Lucknow Students Win PepsiCo Challenge; Become Indra Nooyi’s Advisors

Previous

"The best part of this event was its theme of 'Performance with Purpose', where not only our business prowess, but also our commitment to sustainability was judged. We are very excited to meet Ms. Indira Nooyi in New York in this once in a lifetime opportunity."

"The par excellence academic rigour at IIM Lucknow really helped us in the competition, with Prof, Sushil Kumar and Prof. Himanshu Rai providing the much required guidance and support."

Mr. Nachiket Mor, President, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, one of the members of the jury, added, "I really enjoyed being part of the panel and listening to this very inspired group of young business students present their ideas on what PepsiCo should do in its Corporate Social Responsibility agenda. Every group was outstanding."

Another member of the panel, Major General D. N. Khurana, also appreciated the quality of the work presented and the organization of the event, as he said, "I would like to compliment PepsiCo for this initiative. The fact that nearly 600 teams from the top business schools in the country participated in the contest is a testimony to its value as perceived by the future leaders. The contest not only motivated them to study in depth very relevant issues of Corporate Social Responsibility but also threw up many interesting new ideas. It is my firm belief that we owe it to the country to provide such platforms to the young generation where they not only come up with new and novel ideas but also feel a sense of participation in nation building. My sincere compliments and congratulations to Pepsi Co. Personally, for me, it was a very rich learning experience."

The management institutes that participated in the challenge were the 6 Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Kozhikode & Indore); Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon; Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi; Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur; Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune; Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai; and International School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

All full-time MBA students in these B-schools were eligible to participate in the contest. After the business simulation round, the business case strategies submitted by the participants were evaluated in two phases. The initial selection was done by Dr. Amit Kapoor, Honorary Chairman, Institute for Competitiveness India and Ms. Geetu Verma, Executive Director, Innovations & Business Development, PepsiCo India. The second round which was the final selection round was conducted by an esteemed jury of five members comprising of Mr. Nachiket Mor, President, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, Ms. Malini Thadani, Head - Group Communications & Corporate Sustainability, HSBC India, Major General D. N. Khurana, Ex Director General AIMA and currently Secretary General Asian Association of Management Organizations, Mr. Sanjeev Chadha, Chairman, PepsiCo India, and Mr. Gautham Mukkavilli, President, PepsiCo India.

Concluded.
