XLRI Jamshedpur Plans Graduation Ceremony of Executive Management Programme for Defence Officers

XLRI Jamshedpur will be holding the Fifth Graduation Ceremony of its Executive Management Programme for Defence Officers on July 18, 2009.

Smt. Saroj Vinayek, Director General, Ordnance Factories and Chairman of Ordnance Factory Board, Kolkata will be the Chief Guest. Smt. Vinayak has been with the Ordnance Factory since 1973 and has held varied and responsible positions. As Senior Principal Director, National Academy of Defence Production, Ambajhari (Nagpur), she was instrumental in re-orientation of the training programme of the Group `A' Officers of the organization which would strike a fine balance between organizational training requirement and individual training needs. She was Addl. Director General from 2007 to April 2009. She has decided all the appeal cases till date within the stipulated timeframe and in conformity with the well established Principles of Law and well laid down Rules and Procedures. All the decisions as Appellate Authority have stood the test of law.

XLRI launched the Certificate Programme in Business Management for Defence Personnel on January 14, 2007. The programme for defence officers was launched at the request of the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, who perceived the need for "resettlement" of the officers.

This is the fifth batch of defence officers. There are 49 officers who will be graduating in this batch.

The Executive Management Programme has been designed, keeping in mind the needs of the business world with the aspirations of the service officers. This Programme has been structured with a focus on the theoretical formulation and designed to augment and adapt the Officers' varied experience to disciplines and functional areas relevant to management of business.

The programme, of six-months duration, equips the participants with basic concepts and skills of all functional areas of management along with an area of concentration, thereby enabling them to find a second-career in the corporate world. The corporate sector has expressed a keen interest in this fine batch comprising of a good blend of officers who are all set to face the challenges of tomorrow.
