Skill City: The Toughest Test for Your Softest Skills at XIM Bhubaneswar The wait, the suspense, the spirit of competition in the air, the willingness to achieve and never give up in spite of all odds, and finally the clock struck eleven... More than two hundred and fifty teams entered the fray, the first hurdle on the path to the coveted throne of Camelot. This was the preliminary round of the event called Skill City. The best teams from the top B-schools from around the country like IIM (L), IIM (K), XLRI, IIT (Kgp), SJMSOM-IIT Mumbai, NITIE, SCMHRD, SIBM, IIFT, FMS, to name a few, participated in this first step. They were the best of the best, but sadly as is the rule in every competition, some are more fortunate than the others. The Skill City team was overwhelmed by the entries, and why not, a competition at such a grand scale rarely goes unnoticed, let alone un-participated. The sheer pleasure of success can bring the best out of those who strive to achieve it, and this was exactly the case with those who participated in the Skill City prelims. When Skill City team checked on the participants, they found that the game was not only challenging but was immensely entertaining as well. Pitting their wits for a period of less than one hour, the teams faced a barrage of questions that, at a micro level, tested the very same qualities that the main games will be testing later during Xpressions'05. Much as the Skill City team would like to allow each and every participant to reach the next level, the logistics of the main games prevent them from doing so. After a tough battle of wits, that checked the mental mettle of each participating team, only the following eight teams have made it to the next round: -
