BIM, Trichy Students Win 'The New Age Manager' Award Nothing is more endearing than success! Having a winning experience at the '4th All India Management Students Convention' conducted by Madras Management Association on the 9th & 10th of September, 2005, was indeed a dream come true for Mayur Mayank and S. R. Vidhya, both second year students from Bharathidasan Institute of Management. This convention provides a platform for management students from all over India to demonstrate their talent, creativity and leadership skills and to get noticed by the corporate. The convention also offers a neutral platform for institutes to benchmark themselves against the best, while the industry gets an opportunity to discover new talent and new campuses. Selected students from fierce competition and industry leaders put forth their ideas on the theme and sub-themes in various sessions during this two-day convention. This year, the convention theme was "The New Age Manager". Leaders of industry and practicing managers addressed the students from about 54 colleges across the country on the role of New Age Manager as a Leader & Change Agent; Brand Creator; and an Entrepreneur. There was a paper presentation contest on the same theme and more than 66 teams participated in the preliminary round at MMA house on 8th September 2005. Six finalists were selected out of the three topics and the finalists were asked to present the paper before the 800 strong audiences at the convention. There were three business sessions spread across the 2 day event & each session had 2 finalist teams presenting the paper on stage .The team from Bharathidasan Institute of Management presented their paper on 9th September sharing the dais with Mr. K. S. Ramesh, CEO & ED, Cavin Kare. The convention had many other corporate leaders including Mr. Laksmi Narayanan, CEO of Cognizant Technology Solutions, Mr. J. N. Amrolia, Exec Director of Ashok Leyland, Mr. C. K. Ranganathan, MD of Cavin Kare, and others holding important positions like presidents and VPs in Ford India, Reliance, Sify, TVS Logistics, Pepsico India Ltd, Larsen & Tubro, etc., addressing the gathering.
