IIMC-XLRI Annual Sports Meet Hosted at IIM Calcutta The IIMC-XLRI Annual Sports Meet, hosted at IIM Calcutta this year, has been brought to a premature end due to unfortunate climatic conditions. The event which was supposed to be held over the 3rd and 4th of October, fell prey to the heavy rains and poor ground conditions that prevailed over most of Monday. Since a majority of the events on the first day could not be completed according to schedule, the decision was made to call off the event and start afresh next year. Out of the four events that were completed successfully, IIM Calcutta had won the Squash, Volleyball (Women's) and Chess tourneys comprehensively while XLRI had pulled off Table Tennis (Women's). It was IIMC all the way in the events that were completed and the dominance on the field was evident. The Football match was abandoned with a score-line of 0-0, and IIMC were clearly the better team. However, IIM Calcutta was unable to see through its victorious run as the event fell to the mercy of the rain gods. The chances of another event this year look bleak, with the packed academic calendars of the two nationally renowned Management Institutes. The students of both institutes will however be looking forward to the next version of this 34 year old tradition, popularly known as the 'IIMC-XL Meet'. Concluded.
