Second Day of Lakshya 2005 at NITIE, Mumbai
"Rural Market Holds Key to Consumer Revolution," says Mr. K. V. Kamath at Lakshya, NITIE

Mr. K. V. Kamath, MD & CEO, ICICI Bank, on the occasion of being awarded the Lakshya Business Visionary Award at NITIE, spoke at length about the vision held by ICICI Bank. Lakshya, India's only on-the-job-achiever's contest, is organized by Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) batch of NITIE, Vihar Lake, Mumbai.
The three days annual event is unique in the concept of facilitating industry-institute interaction by holding competition of the projects implemented by various companies across four modules: Supply Chain Management module, Operations module, Systems & IT and General & HR module.

On 15 Oct 2005, the second day of Lakshya, Mr. K. V. Kamath was felicitated for his contribution in taking ICICI Bank to new heights. He spoke at length on role of vision in shaping ICICI Bank's success path. He complemented the PGDIE students for their curriculum, which is very relevant in today's scenario and commented that many of the concepts were implemented at the ICICI Bank. He further gave example of ICICI Bank's proactive approach in Indian Banking namely consumer credit that has grown from 20 Crore market to 200 Crore, NRI Banking requirements and latest the rural banking. He stressed on the importance of wealth creation in rural India for creating a consumer revolution. He further, elaborated on the importance of Supply Chain Management in linking the rural with urban India by removing intermediaries and wastes.

On 15 Oct 2005, the winner of Systems and IT was GE Software, First Runner-up was SSA Global and the Second Runner-up was Wipro Technologies. The jury members, consisting of VPs and CEOs, commented on Lakshya as a learning exercise both for the students and the industrial personnel.

Mr. Subir Raha, CMD, ONGC and Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group are the other awardees, which were felicitated by the chief guest Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, DAE in the Lakshya inaugural ceremony on 14 Oct 2005.

On 14 Oct 2005, there were two modules in Lakshya, SCM Module and Operations Module. In Supply Chain Management module, BPCL emerged as winner, Nestle was First Runner-up and Goodlass Nerolac was Second Runner-up. In the Operations Module, Marico Industries won the best project, Larsen & Toubro was the First Runner-up and Madura Garments were Third Runner-up.

16 Oct 2005 will see the felicitation of Mr. Kishore Biyani, MD, Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd. and Capt. G. R. Gopinath, MD, Air Deccan by entrepreneurship award. It will be followed by Spardha, B-Plan contest & entrepreneurship game and workshop.
