VISTA 2005 India Inc: Dream. Explore. Discover.
October 29-30, 2005

VISTA - IIM Bangalore's annual management summit - is being held this year on the 29th and 30th of October. The theme this year 'India Inc. - Dream, Explore, Discover' will explore and create a road map for the future of Indian corporations. The discussions will follow a novel case-based format that will address the theme with the help of the various verticals such as marketing, finance, operations, strategy, systems and economics.

VISTA 2005 is organized along the lines of a case study, which will challenge participants to apply theories and concepts to solve real life problems, where issues aren't just black and white as in the academic world. Their inherent subjectivity will drive you to use your imagination to solve problems creatively. Activities in each vertical, such as Marketing, Finance, Systems, Operations, Economics and Strategy, are designed to explore the theme of VISTA corresponding to a particular field of management. Knowledge gained from events and games in each vertical are like parts of a jigsaw puzzle which when put together will answer the issue that VISTA seeks to address.

Inaugurating the summit on October 28th morning will be Mr. Mukesh Ambani, followed by a speech by Mr. Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO on 28th evening. The keynote addresses on the 29th will take place in the form of an intense panel discussion between the President of NASCOMM - Mr. Kiran Karnik, CEO of Biocon Group - Ms. Kiran Majumdar Shaw and the MD and Vice Chairman of ABB - Mr. Ravi Uppal and will be moderated by Mckinsey. The day will ease into a relaxing dinner where the pinstripes of today will meet their counterparts of tomorrow. Post Meridian - the networking dinner being hosted by IIM Bangalore will play host to students from across the globe and executives spanning across companies and industries. Distinguished academia from IIM Bangalore will also be present.

A key distinguishing factor this year is the international presence with entries from top international business schools including UCLA, Tuck (Dartmouth), London School of Business and Brisbane. These candidates have been selected from schools around the world (US, UK, South Korea, Dubai) to present papers at Manifestations (Manifestations is India's largest management paper presentation contest). 'Foursight' a case competition by Cognizant Technology Solutions is also being solved at an International level. There are also the finals of an online FOREX trading game, which has been on air all this month as a pre-runner to Vista. On the same note, beginning on the 21st of October an entire week of online gaming - Online @ 9 will add to the excitement of Vista.
