IBLC 2005: The Innovision Business Leadership Challenge at IIM Lucknow
October 29-30, 2005

With the opening up of previously unseen opportunities due to globalization and hence increased competition, the strategic decisions a firm takes has taken utmost importance, more than ever.

Come October 29th and 30th, 2005, Innovision, IIM Lucknow's Special Interest Group for Strategy will play host to three of the most crucial participants in the framing of any such strategy - the corporate, the academia and the B-school students who represent the future of the corporate world. Supported proactively by the faculty and its corporate sponsor Reliance Infocomm, Innovision will host a national level challenge - The Innovision Business Leadership Challenge, IBLC 2005 at IIM Lucknow.

The initial phase of the event, launched more than a month ago, has witnessed immense participation from India's most premier B-schools. With more than 250 participants and 60 teams vying for top honors, IBLC promises to deliver on its objectives. The event will bring forth strategies that are being framed by India's biggest conglomerates, create a stronger bond and interaction between the corporate world and the students, and most importantly, help frame newer and innovative strategies for the corporate through student activities.

IBLC comprises of four sub-events in the form of competitions apart from knowledge-dissipating keynote speeches. The first of the sub-events, which was hotly contested, was titled "retRail blazers" and required teams to create a complete strategy blueprint for a firm's entry into the Indian rural sector.

Also underway are two other sub-events titled "autoStrat" and "stratInsure". Autostrat attempts to create strategies through which Indian auto majors will be able to take on the might of foreign auto companies entering the country. StratInsure deals with one of the most dynamic sectors of the Indian economy, Insurance. With loosening up of regulations and further promotion of FDI on the anvil, this sector promises to throw up more action. IIM Lucknow may prove to be the hotbed from where will arise strategies to ensure success of firms in these sectors.
