    Summers '05 at JBIMS, Mumbai

    The Summer Placement Process at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) was held in mid October. Students experienced 3 days full of excitement, tension and pressure. Over 50 companies participated in the Summer Placement process at JBIMS. FMCGs ruled the roost with companies like HLL, ITC, Colgate-Palmolive, Britannia, Coca-Cola, Cadbury, Marico, Dabur, Perfetti, Kelloggs, Godrej.

    Leading Financial Institutions like Citibank, ICICI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, UTI Bank selected students for both Marketing and Finance projects. Other companies on campus included Ernst & Young, SBI Mutual Funds, American Express, N M Rothschild, Saint Gobain, Godrej & Boyce, Tata Motors, DSCL, CEAT, Maruti, Sterlite.

    Some companies that visited campus for the first time were Emerson, Johnson & Johnson Pharma and UTV. There was heavy participation from IT majors TCS, Wipro and Patni. The highest stipend of Rs. 50,000 for the duration of the project was offered by Emerson. The entry-level stipend was Rs. 20,000 whereas the average stipend was Rs. 30,000.

    According to Soumitra Sarkar, Member of the Placement Committee, "A resurgent FMCG sector coupled with the boom in the financial services arena offered the students a plethora of avenues and opportunities to pursue their summer internship stints."
