Ensemble 2005: The Annual Inter B-school Management Festival at XLRI Jamshedpur
'Inverting the Pyramid'
November 12-13, 2005

The students of XLRI, Jamshedpur are organizing the annual inter-business school management fest on November 12-13, 2005.

Ensemble is the annual management fest at XLRI where the best business schools of India of the likes of the IIMs, FMS, etc., and top corporate battle it out for top honors in a wide spectrum of business games, case studies and paper writing contests across all business functions like Marketing, Finance, HR, Systems and Operations. The top 20 business schools are invited and about 125 outside participants come down to campus to take part in the final rounds or to attend seminars. This time, we are reaching the Foreign B-schools as well and we have received global participation.

The driving theme for this year's Ensemble is 'Inverting the Pyramid' - Building sustainable profitable business models for the mass markets. Businesses all over the country are waking up to opportunities in the mass markets that have not received attention in the past. Recent trends in Indian markets indicate a distinct shift towards the Bottom of the Pyramid.

This theme will be the common thread that ties together events such as case-analyses, simulations, paper writing contests in the different functional areas of management. Corporates such as Reliance Infocomm, ITC, HLL, Tata Steel, Air Deccan, etc., are partnering us in this effort. The flagship game called ITC-Pharaohs is a game that would transport the participants to another world, where they face odds that are extreme in nature, faced with the task of building a pyramid among the sands of ancient Egypt. It is aimed at testing teams on a slew of skills. All this for a total prize money of Rs. 1 lac at stake. The total prize money for the events adds up to around Rs. 5.5 lacs.

5 Finalist Teams in the marketing game would get the opportunity to interact face-to-face with a creative team from Ogilvy at their offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata to crystallize their brand strategy and come out with a creative (print, electronic, web, etc.)
