The second day's sessions opened with a presentation by Mrs. Mala Ramadorai, Founder, Maitree on the CSR activities of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., followed by a presentation by Mr. R. Srinivasan CMC member ITC Ltd. Ms. Lily Paul, Special Projects Coordinator, Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, spoke about the powerful impact that social and business CSR can have on the society when they work in tandem. Mr. S. Narayanaswamy, DGM, SBI, spoke about microfinance and self help groups (SHGs). Mr. K. Tirupathi, Former President, Sterlite spoke on Social Accountability. It was followed by a panel discussion on the topic "Is CSR simply PR?" moderated by Mr. Raghuvir Srinivasan, Corporate Editor, Business Line Chennai. The other participants of the panel discussion included Smt. Shukla Bose, Founder, Parikrama Foundation, Mr. M. P. Pillai, Additional Profressor, NLSIU, Mr. Manoj Chakravarti, GM, Corporate Affairs, Titan Industries Ltd. and Mr. Alex Anburaj & Mr. G. Madhavan, Sr. Managers, Murugappa Group.
The valedictory function was presided over by Dr. Bob Hoekstra, C.E.O. Philips India who stressed the fact that corporates in India can be expected to do social development only at a micro level and the government has to take up the challenge at the macro level. He strongly contended that tax payment and tax collection systems, need to be strengthened. He appreciated the role NGOs play in working in niches and how they are filling the voids created by Government's lack of efficient policy implementation.

Mr. Jyothi Ramalingam I.A.S., Commissioner Bangalore Mahanagar Palika emphasized on the role of corporates towards societal development and lamented that they were not willing to come forward to lay the roads that were spoilt by the recent rains in Bangalore. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Event Coordinator, Prof. S. Sundar of BIM. The conference concluded that CSR is not the responsibility of the government, NGOs or corporates alone; it is the responsibility of every individual towards society. It also bolstered the fact that management students can make a difference with their involvement in social initiatives along with the challenges they face in the corporate world.
