Corporate Dignitaries Line-up at Intaglio 2005-06 at IIM C
Day 2 Report

Day 2 at Intaglio 2005-06, the International B-School Meet at IIM Calcutta, presented a huge line up of dignitaries.

In the afternoon, Mr. Naushir Kaka and Mr. Vipul Tuli, Partners, McKinsey & Co. held the audience, comprising of not only students but also faculty members, enthralled when they delivered speeches on "Extending India's Leadership of the Global IT & BPO Industries" and "Securing India's Energy Needs" respectively.

Mr. Kaka pointed out that there is a huge scope of growth for the Indian IT industry but wondered how to make it sustainable in the long run. He stressed on the importance of innovation in all arenas and pointed out that consumer demand has also shifted from quality and service to innovation. According to him, freedom of trade of services, liberalization of education and augmentation of urban infrastructure are the key measures to be pursued.

Mr. Tuli pointed out how the risk profile of a company changes as the composition of demand for fuel changes over time. He pointed out the advantages, disadvantages and scope of relying on each of coal, gas and oil. He stressed on the fact that trade stability is warranted by both consumers and producers. He suggested the following measures for security in energy needs: deregulation of coal sector, strengthening the logistics and national oil companies, creating regional energy partnerships, focusing on technology research and enabling unified government response.

The students from various international and national institutes also had a great time participating in a number of intellectually stimulating management games. The results of Day 2 events are as follows: -
