Hughes Communications Launches PGDM – Retail with The Knowledge Workers School of Retail

Hughes Communication India Ltd. today announced the launch of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Retail (PGDM-R) in association with The Knowledge Workers School of Retail (TKWs), New Delhi as part of its management learning programmes through HughesNet Fusion.

This fourteen month (11 months of interactive study sessions and 3 months of internship) program for graduates will cover both the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline and add value to the professional development and concept building of the participants.

The program comes with a Job Guarantee Money Back Certificate for all the eligible students who enroll and offers the flexibility of part-time study and on-the job learning. TKWs assures a placement guarantee and if the student is not placed within 3 months of course assessment and certification then TKW will provide a stipend to each eligible candidate per month for a duration upto 6 months while assisting them with placement during this duration as well. The application closure date for postgraduate diploma program is 27th March 2010.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Goyal, The Knowledge Workers School of Retail, New Delhi said, "We are delighted to associate with HughesNet Fusion, HCIL. The Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Retail focuses on the development of concepts, knowledge and skills that will enable successful participants to become experts in the area of retail management. This is one of the few academic programs which come with placement guarantee certificate for the aspiring students."

With global companies and brands foraying into India, the organized retail sector in India is projected to be 24000 Crore Industry by 2011 and likely to create over a lakh management level jobs (Source TKW). The demand for trained, competent professionals in retail has increased manifold. Today organised Retail Industry has become a major contributor and driving force in the Indian economy. These individuals must be able to effectively and efficiently guide their organizations into the future, uninhibited by continuing managerial and leadership advancements and the increasing reliance on sales and customer relationship to remain competitive in business.

The curriculum of the program will focus in the areas of store operations, merchandising, supply chain inventory, customer relationship manager, retail marketing, visual merchandising, quantitative techniques to name a few. Experienced faculty and researchers from the areas of retail, supply chain management, franchise management, finance & accounting will equip students for a career in the organized retail industry. Spread over 50 weeks and conveniently spaced participants will also have to undergo an 8 week internship with an existing retail company giving them exposure to the practical aspects and functioning of retail store and operations.
