XLRI, Jamshedpur Celebrates it's Diamond Jubilee year with Ensemble '09

Day 1

XLRI, Jamshedpur officially kick started its Annual Inter B-School fest, "Ensemble' 09", with the theme of "Integrity and Initiative" in the diamond jubilee year of XLRI. The Fest was inaugrated by Mr. U. P. Agarwal, president of the ICAI, who was also the keynote speaker of the signature event this year, the "Idia Summit" where many eminent personalities are slated to speak on the topic of "integrity and initiative" in the corporate world today.

The Idea Summit has attracted heavy weights including Billiards world champion Micheal Ferriera, Leena Nair, executive director of HR, HUL and many more who will be speaking on the days to come. Mr. U. P. Agarwal spoke about the initiatives the ICAI has taken to make the Indian CA a world recognised one.He talked about how the Indian CA's have come a long way to becoming one of the most recognised ones around the world, with around 1,59,000 CA's currently registered with the ICAI. Due to efforts of the ICAI the Indian CA's have gained easy practicing license around the world, a privilege extended to few countries, owing to the high standards of the CA and ICAI in India.

Addressing the press conference before the event Mr. U. P. Agarwal, who is the one of the youngest presidents of the ICAI, shared the histroy, importance and growing relevance of the CA's in various Indian industries today apart from just auditing, be it in financial companies, KPO's and many more. He also emphasised the High standards the ICAI strives to achieve and maintained that tainted members of the community, especially after many recently exposed corporate scams like Satyam & Mr. Narady, were severly dealt with.He mentioned the courts act on the ICAI's recommendations and it always recommends severe punishments for wrong doings on part of CA's. But he also mentioned that most of the scams happen musch before it reaches the desk of the auditors and the CA's.

This was followed by a session by Mr. Tapan Mitra, chief HR of Apollo Tyres in India. He spoke about the initiatives and values of apollo tyres as it sees a major expansion in indian as well as foriegn markets with strategic M&A in key markets.

The day also aimed at testing management knowledge with fun games and saw partcipants from many renowned B-Schools including IIM's, SP jain, ISB, MDI etc.
