SIOM Student Named Runner-up of CRISIL Young Thought Leader 2009

Varun Jindal, second year MBA (Operations) student, has brought another laurel to SIOM by emerging as runner-up of CRISIL Young Thought Leader 2009 Awards for his dissertation on the topic "What is the Best Approach to Executive Compensation?".

Launched in 2001, the CRISIL Young Thought Leader (CYTL) is a nationwide competition that invites dissertations from post graduate and graduate students on contextual topics. As India's leading rating, research, risk and policy advisory company, CRISIL has always endeavoured to bring in contemporary and innovative thinking to all its areas of operations, and the CYTL is CRISIL's continued attempt to explore and discover innovative solutions to contextual issues. Some of the ideas presented by winners & nominees of this competition have proved useful to both industry and policy makers. At times, they have even given direction to confounding and complex issues.

This year too CRISIL invited theoretically sound and analytically sustained dissertations on topics of direct relevance to the industry. In an endeavour to promote thought leadership among the nation's brightest talent, CRISIL's senior leaders were involved at every stage of the awards process, from carefully selecting topics, to objectively evaluating the hundreds of dissertations CRISIL received. The 134 dissertations received this year from students across 53 Business Schools and 9 Graduate Colleges, were evaluated by CRISIL's analytical teams, Heads and Directors. Finally, 10 winners and 6 nominees (runner-ups) were chosen this year.

Once again SIOM students have shown their mettle in a corporate run competition!

Concluded.
