Management Aptitude Test (MAT): Online Test Format to Remain Optional

Centre for Management Services (CMS) of All India Management Association (AIMA), which conducts Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for MBA aspirants country-wide, has decided to continue with online test format as well as paper and pencil format.

CMS introduced online test version for MAT in sep 2009 as an optional format for candidates. Unlike IIMs' Common Admission Test (CAT), which has been converted to online format completely, MAT exam provides flexibility to students to opt for either of the formats.

CMS's decision to let the online format of exam optional is highly influenced by fiasco happened during online CAT 2009. After analyzing the management and technical glitches faced by IIMs in conducting online CAT 2009, CMS decided to proceed gradually with online version.

The decision is also persuaded by students' preference for paper and pencil format. As per media sources CMS authorities explained, "So far CMS has offered three times the online test format as an option to candidates but each time almost 90% of the students opted for paper and pencil format over online version ".

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is highly recognized exam with over hundreds of AICTE approved Institutions & University Departments. Lakhs of MBA aspirants have availed AIMA's testing services during past six years and now MAT is approved as a National Entrance Test by Government of India, dated 23 November 2004. Many state governments have also started using MAT scores for MBA admissions rather than conducting individual entrance exams.
