Economic Slow down Failed to Impact on 100% IIM Calcutta Placement of Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing Program Students

In line with the high performance track record of IIMC placement, just concluded placement of PGPEX-VLM, 2nd batch students proved beyond doubt that economic slow down / recession could not have a bite on high reputation of IIMC placement.

Out of 32 students, all the 28 self sponsored students of the program have been successfully placed in highly reputed manufacturing organizations like Crompton, McNallyBharat, Cummins, Hewlett-Packard, JSW, VNL, Gurgaon, TVS Motor, PricewaterHouse Coopers, Ashok Leyland, Vedanta, Adani Power, P. M. Dimension, John Deer Equipment, ACC Ltd., L&T InfoTech and Torrent Power. 4 students were sponsored by reputed organizations like T R F Limited, Steel Authority of India Limited, Bokaro Steel Plant, SAIL and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Out of 29 offers, 2 international offers, 5 in consulting firms and the rest is mixed bag offers. The highest offer is of INR 18.00 lakhs and the average is INR 11.37 lakhs which is significantly higher than the average of CTC at the time of admission.

PGPEX-VLM program jointly conducted by IIMC, IITK & IITM is a unique program designed to create Visionary Leaders in Manufacturing Sectors under the aegis of NMCC, MHRD, and Government of India and with active cooperation from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and support from CII. The 2nd batch students had an average work experience in manufacturing sector around 8 years. One of the salient features of the program is manufacturing plant visits in Japan which contributed significantly in placement. Another important aspect of the program is review of curriculum with feed back from manufacturing industries and the vision to the future. Green manufacturing courses is an added feature of the program from 2010-11 batches.
