Summer Placements 2004 at FMS, DU
    September 2004

The summer placement process at FMS, Delhi culminated in last week of September, marking hectic recruitment by the who's who of the corporate world, with 100% placements reaffirming the remarkably high brand equity of India's oldest B-school.

Corporates were left vying with each other for the crème de la crème of the management students. The regular recruiters were in full attendance - the FMCGs and Banks were well represented by the doyens of the industry like HLL, ITC, Glaxo-Smithkline, Colgate-Palmolive, Nestle, Reckitt-Beckinser, Seagrams, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Citibank, Standard Chartered, ABN-AMRO, GE Group, respectively. The consults and general management were well represented by Tata Administrative Services, Hewitt Associates, and AV Birla Group among others.

And then there were companies like Edelweiss Capital, Rothschild, AIG International, Gillette, Marico, Titan, Godrej Industries Ltd., Patni Computer Systems, eServe International Ltd. and Positron Consulting, that were forging newer, stronger bonds with the FMS Campus.

Even though the students were only a few months into their MBA course, quite a few of them had a particular functional area they were keen on interning in, like Marketing or Finance and were thoroughly overjoyed on getting the companies of their choice.

FMS prides itself in giving students companies from varied fields to choose from, thereby leaving maximum options open for the students, and with a great potential for peer-to-peer learning after the summers. This year Marketing assignments were in great demand and about 35% of the offers were in the field of marketing, with FMCG's garnering a major chunk, despite reports of a downturn in the sector. Finance related projects constituted about 25% of the total offers, Consulting and General Management 20% and IT 20%.

Professor V. K. Bhalla, Dean, FMS who was very satisfied with the process said, "Summer Internships are a vital part of the MBA learning. I am glad all our students have an opportunity to intern in top-notch organizations. The successful summer process is once again a reflection of the trust corporates place on us".

For an institution celebrating 50 years of existence, it was yet another exhibition of the power of the FMS brand and the great summer placement figures are simply the icing on the cake.
