Have you ever wondered why your online professional profile do not fetch you the desired results. What is that make people grovel when they look at your professional Profile online? If you were unable to find out answers to these questions, here we tell you what was actually dumping your “excellent” profile.

A large number of people, not only from India but from around the globe, tend to over use clichéd words and phrases in their profile. These ambiguous words, often used merrily, do not tell anything about you rather make your possible employer dodge your CV.

It is good to have some strong words in your CV who speak loud about your skills, experience and education, but remember they should be loud not shouting. Freshers generally tend to over burden their CV with clichéd words and phrases with out even realizing how detrimental it can be.

Some people consider these words dynamic which will add power to their dormant resume, but the fact is quite contradictory.

According to a 2010 LinkedIn Analysis top 10 overused buzzwords people use are:

1. Extensive experience
2. Innovative
3. Motivated
4. Results-oriented
5. Dynamic
6. Proven track record
7. Team player
8. Fast-paced
9. Problem solver
10. Entrepreneurial

Looking from a wider perspective LinkedIn further went on to find out how these terms are used around the world. The study revealed, while Indians, Brazilians and Spaniards identify themselves as “dynamic” professionals, the USA, Canada and Australia tend to emphasize their “extensive experience”. Members in the UK call themselves more “motivated” and the French, Germans, Italians and the Dutch see themselves as “innovative”.

So next time while updating your online professional profile on LinkedIn or Naukri or any other online professional network, do watch your words.
