Alike in other countries, executive MBA is slowly rising on the popularity index in India too. Realizing the future prospects and popularity of these programmes, IIM Calcutta launched its PGPEX programme in 2007.

This one year residential programme is designed for executives who are mid-career professionals and are willing to switch start their career in management or otherwise willing to armour themselves for senior and top level management roles in the industry. The program has produced alumni who have demonstrated excellence in the leadership positions that they have occupied in their organizations.

Key features of PGPEX
Experiential learning in management is as important as classroom learning. Thus, the industry internship program helps future business leaders hone their skills while tackling real world challenges. All participants are required to undertake an International Project and Study Tour which is facilitated by IIM Calcutta. Some of the key features of this course are:

• Strong focus on analytical & problem-solving pedagogy
• Emphasis on decision-making and leadership skills
• Industry internship or International immersion
• Learning to address and resolve complex issues in a cross-cultural environment
• Diverse participant mix with experience with global organizations
• Unique blend of theory, case method and research papers: 800+ contact hours, 48 courses (30 core courses, 18 electives). 

Admission Process
Candidates are selected on the basis of their professional experience (>5 years), academic record, GMAT score and personal interviews. Apart from this, candidates are required to submit a statement of purpose and recommendations from two refrees holding senior managerial positions, which is taken into consideration in the final selection.

Eligibility Criteria
Executives with more than 5 years of post qualification managerial/professional experience, holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline are eligible to apply. A valid GMAT score (taken within last 36 months of Application date) is also required.
