Can anyone please explain about Nandigram Viloence how was it started and what is the position now. What has the government done for the same. If could please elaborate in detail.

nandigram is place in bengal where a south asian company wish to set up a large petro complex. For that purpose the govt of bengal wish to acquire agriculture land of people in order to create an industrial complex. However villages opposed this govt move and decided not to hand over land to govt. CPM govt made this an ego issue and forced villagers to vacate the land by threat and violence.

now core issue is

can a govt acquire land for private purpose
and what is public good
how to compensate farmers who loose their livlihood for some one time payment
