I wudnt agree wid it in the larger context (atleast for this year). I do agree that thrz a slowdown in the IT sector and the financial mkts r going down but MBA still holds a lot of potential n dis yr too we have seen a rise in the pckages. Maybe v r coming to a stage of consolidation but this yr is not the yr wen v shud b worried at all. I feel 2011 will be like 2001 n it has a few more yrs 2 go.Till den v can party...:icon_cheers:

Hi,

It largely depends on which sectors and which functions and which countries you are looking at. For e.g., if you are thinking to join investment banking in Europe or America after your MBA, it would be extremely challenging this year and the next. (UBS in Switzerland has freezed their employment for investment banking since Jan 08; credit suisse in Europe is reducing their available positions; and Citibank is limiting their employment vacancies in America as well). Many banks in Europe are also thinking (or in the process) of outsourcing their operation functions to lower cost countries such as Eastern Europe, India or China.

Using a parallel thinking skills, you will then realize that if you are looking for a job in the operations (such as back office support, banking & finance, private banking) in India, then you may actually have a higher chance than before.

Kind regards,
Thomas
