Hello Everyone.

My queestions may seem very much redundant, but i need to get them cleared. Please help me through this.
I'll also make it easier for you guys to answer.
All question are with respect to distance MBA.

* Which is better ICFAI or Symbiosis?

* Is ICFAI mba really a bad, money making insti or is it just that the course is difficult?

* Is Symbiosis' PGDIT course good?

* Whats the difference between having an "MBA" degree and "PGDIT" diploma?

Please reply with whatever you think about this.

Thank you.

None of the above..
In the industry the correspondence courses doesnt work much !
jus answer this - Can u learn swimming on land ?? in the same way science cant be learnt thru correspondence without practical exposure. Think about it - u want knowledge or jus a degree/cert which says u are "also" an MBA..
other options ??
Satellite courses.. check those out which are much better than the above !

Yeah. You're quite right.
But hey, i don't have any other option.

What about MBA IT from Manipal university? I feel thats a decent course. What say?

Some factors that should go into your decision making:
1. How long has the institute been in the market? What is its reputation among corporates?
2. Even though its a distance learning program, does the program offer flexible interaction opportunities with real faculty ? Coz ultimately that matters a lot, to the value you take away.
3. Does the program offer hands on projects and learning programs? Just reading textbooks is not enough
4. Is there a strong peer group in your home city, so that you can interact and learn from like minded people ?

Hope you find them useful.

Best,
Rahul

Hey Rahul,

You seem to be from Icfai.
How is the distance learning course out there?
I've heard its a lot more difficult and people die to pass the exams. Also, its way too costly for a distance course.
What do you say? You might know better. Your insights would be helpful.

Thanks.

Check out the ICFAI, IGNOU, Symbi etc institutes which provides u MBA thru distance mode and u can even check out the DWGE-Hughes & NIIT-Imperia websites for MBA thru satellite mode which is a bit expensive but decent one.

I am currently doing my MBA (distance learning) through ICFAI. Believe me, it is not easy. I know a whole bunch a people who had joined the course with me and have left if halfway. It is very tough and at the same time expensive.
Do not go by the institutes words ( which says it is a 2 year course). It takes close of 3 1/2years to complete the stuff.

Symbo.. is definalty much simpler that ICFAI. Please think twice before enrolling your self in ICFAI. Hope you have got the point.

All the best.

Hello everyone,
I am very new to this forum. I have seen a lot of mixed feelings over here. Everyone has potrayed their beautiful views. The original topic ICFAI or Symbiosis has now turned to Regular or distance MBA. This topic will never end. Let me take an initial step and try my best to clear it. Whether its regular or correspodense, MBA requires real commitment. The decision of doing an MBA regular course or correspondence can be taken by taking into consideration of the time that you can invest in finishing this course and the money that you can really afford. Belive me or not any mode of education will have its own unique avenues to provide you the exposure that the course requires. So depending on the two factors you can choose best suited mode of education. Coming to ICFAI or symbiosis distance MBA? I think both have their own unique features embeded into their course. But depends on which has more features that you wanted. First one should understand their needs both short term and long term.

Hi....Guys

How r u...????

I am also doing the MBA from ICFAI Distance Learning....

I know, it is tough to clear all groups in first attempt, but its not an impossible task guys...

Normally the problem is that the persons who joined the correspondence Mba don't have time to study or they take it so lightly, Coz they already engaged in job.

But if you guys only give some time to read nd understand the Work books u can easily clear the ICFAI MBA....you can also try the C.D.'s to learn and understand.

Hi Neetu,
Lets look at it this way...Lets first understand why one does an MBA first.. there are two reasons.. 1) knowledge 2) employment. Lets take each of them..
1) Knowledge: Management is a science. Can u learn science thru correspondence? Can you learn MBBS or Rocket science thru correspondence? well, you know the answer..

2) Employment: Simple ques.. if you were a HR manager would you give importance to a guys MBA degree/diploma earned thru correspondence. :rolleyes:Am sure you know the answer for this as well....

Now if you want to earn an MBA jus for the sake of it.. pls go ahead and it doesnt matter whether its frm ICFAI or SYMBI or some timbaktu university.. but if you want to get ahead in life with some real motto.. then think again...

Currently am pursuing my online MBA (PGCBM) frm XLRI and believe me these are knowledge transfers from the top class faculties. Hence, look before you leap since its your career at the end of the day!!

Ping me for any further help!!

Hi Vishal,
Thanks.but i read lot of forum on Icfai and symbosis.lot of people are saying Icfai is useless and no value in market.

You know wht Miss Neetu....

I really dont know..coz

yet I haven't done My MBA..

I completed A,B,C & D groups in one attempt ..but Its not an easy task as you read other people opinion in this forum...

but distance MBA from symbosis is an easy compare to distance MBA from ICFAI

Just tell me one thing.. why you WANT TO DO MBA....?

I mean to say just for a MBA Diploma or MBA degree or for a better career ....??

I know the distance programs are not as good as regular programs...

But I must say one thing that ICFAI is best for those who want to do distance program for their career not only for just a MBA Degree....

keep going ..BEST OF LUCK....

Hello,
I am a BE(IT) graduate,class 2007...
I want to do MBA(HR) thru correspondence..
same confusion whether to do in ICFAI or SYMBIOSIS(scdl) or IGNOU..

I am willing to work very hard for MBA,but i can do only in correspondence..
I dont want MBA just for a namesake degree, but i want it for my carrier..
I prefer a MBA degree than a PG diploma..

My question is, after all the doubts about ICFAI,is it worth to study there?my doubts about ICFAI:
a) you are doing a correspondence course and still you will get a full time degree.
b)degree will only display the date when you pasased your exam and not the date on which you were admitted to the institute. How is this possible?
c)does huge corporate companies recognize such programmes ?Flexible Learning Programme and correspondance/ distance learning one and the same thing.
d)International CFA has sued ICFAI, so is ICFAI still a reputed n recognised one?

I want to change my carrier to a HR professional for software companies from a techie.. so what should i do next?

I thought of doing MBA (HR) from ICFAI this 2009?
but is ICFAI recognised by AICTE?
if not, then how can they issue a Master's degree?

plz plz help me..
or should i stop digging about ICFAI n accept just a PGDHRM from symbiosis?

I am looking forward for ur reply..

Thanks & Regards, Wavey

IT depends upon us to decide

I think ICFAI is the best option though fees structure is high

Hi Everyone..

Ok.. I am adding some more confusion to this thread..

It's become a tough decision now to choose a suitable insti for MBA.

From what I know about ICFAI, the syllabus is really tough so not a good idea for the ones who are already working.. just like me.

I want to know about distance learning from Symbi.. any ideas how does that go?

Besides, I have heard about IGNOU MBA.. any one on that?

ICFAI,SYMBIOSIS,well there is no comparison..............What will be more beneficail for you to do would be a Distance Learning PGDBA, form Welingkar Institute Of Management Of Mumbai,,as it is more in line with industry requirements and is highly advanced in terms of CURICULUM...For Further discussion you can call me on 9930363987/9819800124.

Hi,

I am working in asn S/w Company in bangalore.I Have B.Tech degree in electronics and communications. Now there is a twist i realised..
I am no more interested in s/w job,but the market situations and my family responsibilities are the sole reasons behind me not leaving this job.Hence with out leaving a job i want to persue MBA.So the executive mBA is the only option i have, as i dont really consider distance mode as the one that can change my field of job. I am always very much inclined towards that kind of workk where i get to interprete people.I love to do research on what ppl think,do and achieve etc..This kind of work comes under sociology and psychology.
I wish to do master's in sociology now by weekend programmes in bangalore.
Recently i visited BMA( bang manage Acade) but it seems its their first batch and the no of enrollments were nil until i approached them.
Can anyone please suggest me any more such good universities/academies/instituitions???It should be also worht doing it.
One more thing..i anyhow gave athought of doing it, so that if possible i can switch my field from IT sector to this..
IF anyone have any ideas/facts about the career prospectus of this fiels, plz plzpzlpzlzpz drop it here. I would be very thankful to you..
thanks in advance

executive MBA requires work ex... atleast 3 4 years...Simple MBA need only grad and work ex would be an additional qualification if you have....
Executive are sorta sponsored but simple MBA is either merit or management quota based.

Regular courses are excellent from Symbi :I agree: but whats about distance courses?

Also, Is HR specilization is good from Symbi?

You should rethink on your views on distance learning.
if you are talking about practicle exp then people from distance or part time can apply their learnings in their current organisation. It is more frequent and fruitful rather then fulltime coz they hav to wait only for their internship period.
taking your example under consideration i.e.
no one can learn swiming without going in water. similarly one cannot apply learnig and learn management without experimenting it in real corporate world.

I went to a Career councellor (7 yrs Exp in education) to know more about Distance MBA Degree.
He told me that The ICFAI university is registered under state law act and it is approved by UGC (university Grant Comission) and DEC (Distance Education Counil), a body of central govt.
Best thing i got to know is as compare to Symbi/Welingkar n any other autonomus intitute who write PGDBA/PGDM on their certificate, ICFAI provide MBA Degree from UGC approved University. That means it is also acceptable in govt/ semi govt industries other than private and MNCs.

You can check by yourself if you want. His name is Mr. Piyush: 9022047703.

Thank you.

HI
mba from icfai and symboisis is not a good option. if you do your mba this institute then you will only got degree and thing you lost. but if you do your mba from sattelite then you will get everything so please try to do your mba through sattelite.
for more detail kindly visit:- hugheseducation.com

But hey, i don't have any other option.

What about MBA IT from Manipal university? I feel thats a decent course. What say?

it's not better option because you have lot of chance to get your mba degree from premier b-school so why you would like to get admission in manipal university. if you would like to do mba from good institute. please give some time to yourself and check out the opportunity.

MBA or to learn English Language is the same --if you want to learn Enlglish
Oxford or Harvard or ICFAI will teach you A to Z 26 Alphabets --the whole
language is based on 26 letters---no university can teach you 27 - 28- or
29 Alphabets------is it clear same with MBA it is you who will decide which
are the subject and specialization you want to do and why how this will
benefit you---------e.g I have taken Foreign Trade/International Business
and this will help me a lot in my business--from now onwards World Bank
WTO world Trade Organization and IMF International Monetary Fund they are
offering me to join them..........so this my MBA--I am directly corresponding
with those organization---------Never think this University is good and that
bad ---all of them are good you got to learn from take from them as much as
as you can.........and you are successful person.....there is no difference
whether you MBA degree from Oxford or Harvard or ICFAI....it is the same
what you will learn there can learn here also--I am doing it with ICFAI but
I have curriculum of Oxford university and Harvard also....................
I hope now you will pay attention to what you want and how.....from a very
bad man I will learn a good thing..........M.A.Billa --Verna 123

I can't answer the other questions but i do have an idea about an MBA degree and PGDIT diploma.

An MBA degree is generally a 2 year long program where you are introduced and taught to manage the various aspects of business. Its a wonderful course for individuals who aim to be managers and CEO someday.

As for PGDIT diploma, it is a specialization program. If you're very interested in the world of Information Technology, then this course if apt for you. It has various duration. I have personally come across a course that can continue for 6 months to 2 year. It depends from one institution to another.
