Varun Jindal 03-21-2008, 10:09 AM what will be your usage and what is your budget. Further are you open to Apple , Ubuntu or want Microsoft only?? My budget will be limited to Rs. 50,000 and usage will be confined to a typical B-School student. Although I am not totally restricted to a particular brand, yet I feel it's always better to put forth preference (which in my case in Toshiba). Lord_of_the_Ring 03-21-2008, 05:42 PM Toshiba has issues on service. I think Dell 1525 will be good. go for min 2 GB RAM and whole thing will come in 36k or so Varun Jindal 03-21-2008, 09:06 PM One more query: Which Operating System should I go for? Windows Vista or Windows XP? I have heard that Windows Vista is quite slow in operation. amitakshay 03-26-2008, 02:36 PM go for WINDOWS XP? deepblue 03-26-2008, 03:35 PM Ideally speaking go for windows XP if you can get that. ( licensed copy) as Vista is painfully slow. One option could be to buy Dell Vostro without OS and then buy Windows XP license for 7k and install. Varun Jindal 03-27-2008, 07:21 PM Thanks for your help in narrowing down my range. The various Dell Vostro models are given on the URL: http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/vostronb?c=in&cs=inbsd1&l=en&s=bsd Which one do you think is well suited for B-School student requirements? deepblue 03-30-2008, 12:04 PM Hi Let me know your preferred screen size 15.4 or 14.4. 14 will be little smaller but lighter also. will suggest you to have a look on laptops and decide. If you take dell would advice you to take screen with TrueLife as that has shining reflex. other thing is go for wireless/ bluetooth as it is must as of today due to wireless envirinment. Other thing is that you can ignore laptop bag if it is chargaeble as Dell laptop bags are very heavy. you can rather buy Samsonite / VIP laptop backpack for around 2500 which is lighter. Go for backpack only. further you can go for vista with 4 GB and it will still less than 40k :D Varun Jindal 03-31-2008, 03:00 PM Hi Let me know your preferred screen size 15.4 or 14.4. 14 will be little smaller but lighter also. will suggest you to have a look on laptops and decide. I would prefer to go for screen size of 14 because I want it to as light as possible... But I have heard that laptops with smaller screen sizes are expensive than those with big ones... |
