Hi everyone,
I have done a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT and I am currently pursuing an MBA from IIM. I have a GPA of around 3.2/4 at both places. What are the chances of my making it through to one of the top rung U.S B-schools after taking GMAT? Is it advisable to go for a 2nd MBA in the US after completing the first from the IIMs? Do they have any restrictions as far as applying for a 2nd full time MBA program in the US is concerned?
Thanks and Regards,
Debashish

Hi,

Firstly, I wish you had indicated your reasons to consider the second MBA overseas. It is true that many US schools do not allow candidates who already have an MBA degree to apply. Many others require you to have a strong justification to seek a second MBA, which of course is not very difficult for us Indians since we tend to undertake the first MBA program right after our undergrad degree i.e. without work experience.

As for your chances, it is a factor of several things i.e. work experience, academics, extra-curriculars, essay etc. Most US B-Schools value work experience. So, you should consider gaining some work experience before applying for your second MBA

Hope this answers your query. Wish you the very best in your academic pursuits.
