Iam guessing this question might be posted already. Anyways, here it comes..
What is the optimum work ex that companies look for in Indian B Schools ?

I have 8 years of work-ex, all in IT, different countries - India, Europe, US, different posts - Developer, Team Leader, Manager, Client Relations, Vendor management. The companies I have worked for are one of the Indian top 3 and the MNC top 3. I know I can do a MBA program, and have been giving it a serious thought.

What can I expect by way of placement, salaries ? I want to know if its worthwhile quitting my job and joining an Indian MBA program. What are my options for a foreign program w.r.t funding? ( I am married with a 1 month old kid)

For ISB, you are very well in the ballpark. The avg work ex is around 5 yrs. The salary is really hard to predict. But, my guess is that with 8yrs work ex, u shud expect around 12 L pa post ISB.

Hoo for you best bet is either ISB or USA B-schools. In IIMs you wont get placement at all

Hi everyone,

I am a current student at the Indian School of Business. I would be graduating in April 2005.

I would be checking back here whenever I get a chance, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about ISB.

You may want to check out my blog at: http://isbpgp.blogspot.com/

I have been thinking of doing an MBA from ISB. But my main concern with ISB is that it does not have an alumini network.
I agree that ISB offers one of the best faculties & the passouts are comparable with the best in the world. But experience has thought me that being good is just one small part of having a successfull career. Networking is specially important for managers and the lack of having an established Alumin network(due to its early age) will work against ISB graduates.
Any opinions..?

thanks
Amit

Your argument is right, ISB does lack a strong alumni base because it was set up only a few years ago. The base is growing rapidly though, with the intake increasing each year. You would find ISB alums in all major companies in India, and quite a few abroad. And the bonding is very tight, so the alums will go out of their way to help you. Also, ISB alumni have contacts with Kellogg and LBS alumni, and that is another network to tap. In fact, today we had an alumni meet at ISB where alums from both Kellogg and ISB were present, and the dean of Kellogg was there to address them.

Hi Anurag,

You'll required to take GMAT and submit your score before sending in the application to ISB. All frequently asked queries pertaining to ISB's one year PGP have been answered on ISB website at URL: http://www.isb.edu/pgp/FrequentlyAskedQuestions.Shtml?menuid=109
Hope it helps.
