Hi everybody,

I would like to know if anyone could share some experiences about MBA admissions.
I am a Automation Engineer, graduated in Brazil with GPA around 3.4.
During the graduation, I studied one year in a France university for engineers (ENSEEIHT) and did a summer in the Industrial Automation area. I also had the opportunity to live in Germany, where I worked in a Research Institute (RWTH-Aachen) for 7 months, in order to complete my end-course-project. Coming back to Brazil, I started a master course in the field of Virtual Enterprises. When I was almost finishing the master thesys I was hired by a big Japanese company (consumer products division) to work as software engineer. I have been working here for one year, and now I would like to make a change in my career.
I am fluent in English and French, business level in Spanish, basic in Germany and communication skills in Japanese.

Since I do not have much working experience.. What would you say my chances are to be admited for a top MBA? I was thinking about INSEAD, because its 1 year program and its international diversity.

Thanks for your advices....

Hey Felipe,

There is an increasing tendency amongst some big B Schools to indulge in 'craddle snatching' these days, but these cases are rare and far apart. It is one thing to make it to a good B School and completely another to be able to fully appreciate the program. This often is largely decided by your professional work experience and the responsibility levels you may have handled.

I would strongly recommend that you put in another year or so and then aim to apply. It is not difficult to find students who are about 24-25 in an MBA class in a big school, but these are often chartered accountants and other like professionals who have also gained such qualifications while seeking their undergraduate degrees. You may also find students who have not undertaken another masters degree after their under-graduate degreee and instead chosen to work and gain experience. So while relatively younger to the average MBA classmate, they have similar years of experience.

Hope this answers your query. Wish you the very best in your academic endeavours.
