Hi

these days lot many colleges havelateral placement cell where lateral placement happens for senior guys. However lateral placement happns only in the relevant industry so if u r lookingfor lateral placement, u must look at shipping industry placements only or some software company which makes software for shipping industry can use your domain expertise

following collegeshave active lateral placement cell
IIMA
IIMB
IIML
IIMK
SPJIMR

I know people over here will give you a lot of arbit gyan on which Indian Colleges to go to. But believe me, there is NO..and i mean NO college in India which will do justice to 7 years of work experience. Try GMAT and u will get a far better deal. Money should not be a worry. There are many a ways to manage ur finances. If you need additional info, mention it here on this forum and will try to put you in touch with certain ppl who can be more helpful.

TC and Good Luck

Note that not all companies give weightage to prior work ex, and ones which do compensate irrespective of whether you get recruited through regular or lateral placement route. To get levearge of your past experience I would recommend only the following institutes :

IIM A,B,C,L
XL
JBIMS
FMS
SPJAIN

rest would be a waste...dont get carried away by rankings which vary from magazine to magzine and year to year and ofcourse money paid by the private institutes to the editors.

For 7 years past experience you can look at a packge of 10 lacs plus if you pass out from one of these..

Thanks for all replies, as this is very important decision for me to shift over to acads (I am married and having a kid), I would like to talk to alumnis or students of mentioned college so that I will have no hassles for going in for decision. As far as going abroad concerned I will prefer to settle in India and with that perspective I am not sure will it be helpful to get degree abroad. I would like to know more about it. Thanks again

Dear XLent
As u have suggested it is true that Induan B schools are not good as far as lateral placement go. Looking at different options I dont mind trying a hand on UK based colleges since they have 1 year course.
1. What GMAT score is required by various colleges?
2. What abt financial aid?
3. Do the dependents get work permit in UK(my wife is software engg)
