View Full Version : why should one take up HRD as a major?? urvi 11-23-2004, 02:50 PM i am confused as to whether take finance or HR i am a commerce student and would be of gr8 help if someone could tell me what diiference would it make if i chose one over the other, job prospects etc devang 11-24-2004, 10:22 PM Hi Urvi HR & Fin are entirely two diff career streams and lead to a diff role all together and hence you shall think carefully b4 embarking on one. to read about career in HR, its role prospects, good/ bad and ugly points go to this link http://www.coolavenues.com/companies/disp_ind_res.php3?code=HR for understanding career in Fin, you can look at career options in Stock markts , Mutual fund or Bizz analyst To read about Mutual fund business, go through this link http://www.coolavenues.com/companies/disp_ind_res.php3?code=MB if you go to Fin, your background will certainly help you but you also need to look at your interest area and about overall outlook. If u like numbers, balance sheet, reading p/l fin is the area. if you are more excite about ppl, recruitment, training, compensation etc HR is the place for you best of luck urvi 11-29-2004, 04:32 PM thank you for ur reply but i am utterly confuse cause i am a graduate in commerce and feel have done loads of accounts and seen so many balance sheets that i am tired of it..on the other hand i work in the mutual fund industry so know a lot bout stock markets and mutual funds.... on the other hand fell HR could be an option cause marketting is out ( i cant do it all my life) and cant decide on finance so what should i do???????? devang 12-01-2004, 03:22 PM well u seemsto be boredwith fin very early. :) one of my mentoris CEO of a mutual fund and he still think that there is too much to learn dear you need to identify what u likeor what u dont like and then proceed. all i know HR is more boring than fin so getting bored is not an option can u go for double specialization like HR & FIN One more thing, u can get into HR from Fin but vice versais not true , so probably u can major in Fin and minor in HR and later on can swap the roles rajkiranshetty 02-15-2006, 11:37 PM hi iam a BE in Eand C. i am a MBA aspirant.please can anyone suggest me which among HR and Marketing should i chose. i am little more interested in HR.but i have heard HR is mostly taken up by females and scope and job opportunity is less for freshers compared to marketing.please help me out of this delima. tulikas 02-16-2006, 09:05 AM does your insti offer a dual specialization or major minor??? if then go for both. it does not matter in long run which is major or minor. rajkiranshetty 02-16-2006, 03:50 PM hi, our institution offers only a single specialisation either marketing or HR.thats why am in a confusion which among them i should choose devang 02-16-2006, 09:04 PM Hi If you like HR go for it.
