well now that i have passed those stage and can claim the been there done that tag....i do think when u r working n still are able to put on a coupla hrs daily...its more than enuff....most of the ppl working n preparing barely get even dat luxary of putting in a coupla hrs daily after the days work..especially the guys in sales n stuff....

so all ya guys n gals who are worrying about the daily hrs put in...dn worry u r doing a preety decent job...just keep in kind that the hrs u put in should not be mere hrs in terms of time frame...the concentration level should be at the peak for whatever duration u put the grey cells in....

well i was just wondering about how to increase the community feeling and give more value to the coolavenues members who are cat aspirants.....i was wondering whether the online + offline model can be integrated out here....

what we can have is that there are a few senior members and some ppl who have already passed thru this stage of cat preps n b-skool life if we can identify such ppl accross different locations and then use them to give offline in-person/in-group guidance to the aspirants at the location where they are situated during the weekends then i think we'll not only give a better value proposition but also create a new platform of giving back something to this forum...

just a passing thought...comments welcome from all especially from members like shishir..vicky...atul...snigdha...etc etc...

@ pinku....see u wont be able to gauge ur strengths and weaknesses till u face the rigour of couple of mock cats...if u r goin thru the coaching classes of any of the coaching institutes like ims or time..then by goin thru the course material u can get a fairly good view abt ur ability to adapt the various sections...also talk with any of the career counsellors around they will help....to get a better and more qualified response narrow down on the specifics of the question....ciao.. :D

This is ridhesh here. I am currently a student of imt ghaziabad 2006-08 batch.

I have done my engineering from banagalore and passed out last year.I have also worked with a sales and marketing consultancy start up.

My cat percentile was 99.56 and my hobbies include anything related to world war 2,tennis and organizing anything.

At IMT,its been almost a month and a half and life is hectic.have made it to the alumni committee and as its said..am loving it!!!...lol....hope to be active over here...:banana

Hi All.

I am new to this group and wanted somebody to suggest me on my candidature.
I have just opened my eyes today and could manage to get the form to appear in CAT for this year.
The time that i have is probably near to 80 days...
I am thinking of getting myself enrolled with some institute tomorrow itself.
Do you guys think that probably putting in 6 - 8 hrs daily would suffice for my preparation. I am basically an IT graduate from Delhi but have been completely away from studies for almost 4 Years.

Pls suggest the Do's and Dont's required to give it a good shot...

3.i am completely nil regarding the preparation strategy.so anybody can tell me how to start preparation from the scratch.how to continue.and where to endup.ie. i want a complete spoon feed up regarding the preparation aspects..even which books to refer[i cant afford time to go to coaching classes].where to find online resources for mock papers....etc...

well u seems worry regarding preparation there is nothing to worry , off course one thing i want to tell u that rather than thinking for MAT think for CAT(time out this year) but other test like XAT,SNAP,IRMA,TISS u should think for.

Rearding preparation if u want to strat from scarch then, for quants go through 9th then 10th CBSE or ICSE book once u finish that inform me i will suggest more, for datainterpetation a book from TATA publication came u can go through that for english , try to improve your vocabulary form wordpower made easy and barrons and daily go through editorials of any eng daily,dont worry, let me know if have any doubt.:banana

just go through the CAT booklet and search for your desire college some good college are like NITIE,mumbai, iifm,bhopal,see the dead line of submission of college if dead line is before cat exam then apply or else apply later on your proformance.

What kind of brand gyan do you want...Please be specific coz brand mgmt involves a lot many things.... if u r a student and want to build up ur knowledge base, go thru managing brand equity by david aaker(it will give u a direction to think on ur own about the W-H questions on brands), 22 immutable laws of branding by al ries(just for fun) and Brand Failures by Matt Hegg(it will help you analyse real life cases of brand failures). And if u r working in brand managemnt yeam somewhere lets discuss about the changing scenario in branding... just to tickle your grey cells, how about discussing "The Impact of E-Revolution on Brand Association".

How was your experience with part time MBA from ICFAI?? are you quite satisfied with it ?? How would you rate it on course content, faculty interaction, post placement upside ???

While the course content was good, I did not opt for clasees (which provides for faculty interaction).
Actually it is a good course for Working Executives for two reasons: (1) You can study at your own pace, (2) You can relate to the real life experiences.

for IITs, you will require atleast 98% in GATE and the only way to go is to go back to your engineering course books. I dont think this forum will help you much in your GATE prepartion if you are not thinking about MBA
