well PGPIM is IMI's..flagship course..the course which launched the skool in 84'...PGP came in much later in 94...most of our high flying achievers are from the PGPIM course...n they span from global heads..to regional heads..to country managers...so i find it preety absurd when u compare it to a shit like IIPM...

will say the course lost a bit of focus coz PGP course gained an upperhand in the last 3-4 yrs..but it has always been a highly sought after course..placements were always offered..but coz most of the ppl come from the industr..they generally go back as laterals...

this yr the corse has been restructured after an industry- institute brainstorming....n believe industry perception of this course is very high...as many big names in industry are the ... outs of this course..

hi all!
thanks curtz for a prompt reply.i agree with you,i have toured IMI site in detail, infact they have not mentioned much about the PGPM 2 yr course as agst PGPIM which more or less points towards the fact that PGPIM is their flagship course.and regarding the high flying achievers can u give some other names apart from those on the site.also how will intll. mgt course help a person,is it like some kinda specialisation in Intt Mgt?further i would like to know how good are the prospects of a campus placement.
even if u msg me with some of the names personally it would be a great effort on ur part.i appreciate ur prompt response and also am thankful for blocking other threads which were posted by me on other forums.i'll get used to the forms in time........
further being a graduate and with an exp of 4 yrs in indian industry, later quitting the job for PGPIM...would it make any sense....??? esp when one makes a cost benefit analysis...would the industry welcome a person who has done a one yr course not from IIFT.....IMI,i guess is not anywhere near IIFT..so would the industry welcome such a degree holder from IMI with open hands...also i read one thread about LIBA where one person asked about one yr course in Intt Business and someone was totally agst that course...can u pls suggest....ur prompt and sincere reply would be awaited and appreciated.
keep up the good work..

i would love to agree with you..but i am a bit apprehensive...in this year's placements records all 119 students were from PGPM course only.there was no mention of students who are pursuing PGPIM.so can u give some stats on that.
further i would like to know the kinda interaction PGPM and PGPIM students have.also about PGPIM's placement season.
all the queries answered would be appreciable...........i understand this being a loooong post....but i am sure that's the way u like posts to be.... :D Cheers and regards..
Aryan

p.s-congrats for roping in Dr.C.S.V.Ratnam..he's known for turning around institutes...i wish he rockets IMI further ahead.Good luck.

firstly IMI's PGPIM course has no parallel with the IIFT course..both r different...therefore it'll be advisable not to treat it as a inferior course...abt the alumnis...am sorry it's a huge huge list...which is nearly imposible to be selectively judged n communicated...it's better if u go n ask in the industry abt it....abt leacing work n joining us..boss there are ppl in pgp 2 yr course..who have 6-8 yrs of work ex...so 4 yrs ex for pgpim is no big deal....

i would advise...as it's an important srep..n as u already r in the industry..get a first hand review..from the ppl who matter most..the recruiters aka industry ppl....n then take any decision...yes this time a reemphasis has been given to this course..n which i believe is good...n will make it one of the most sought after course in the nation...

ciao.. :D

hi
is there any gyan or just like that???? :?: also in what way are IIFT and PGPIM courses diff?also the other instt like LIBA which offer an international mgt course, how credible are those?..... and did i read that right....bout the couse being most sought after in the country................ and also would the placements be at par with the regular 2 yr course students...esp for ppl who have a graduation degree to back and few yrs work exp (and are self-sponsored and won't be absorbed by the company which they had worked for)....also the exp. u said is present with ppl pursuing the regular 2 yr course,so where are these PGPIM students exactly placed in terms of placements ???won't the recruiters prefer the 2 yr prog students???
i guess u have very patiently responded so far.....appreciate.......if u would respond this too, taking note of all what i said....it would be a great effort...also u chose not to answer the LIBA query and PGPIM placements this year and whether their packages were comparable with the 2 yr course PGPM.
cheers and thanks
Aryan

p.s- i would appreciate if u address all my concerns/queries so that i don't have to bug u at this frequency

first of all last yrs pgpim students were mostly those who had family run bizness...so they returned back to their family biz...placements are on par or may be even better than pgp.....it depends on the students..coz industry has openings for all kinda ppl....also am from pgp batch..not pgpim..so cant go into much detail...liba's course is a newly floated course..also liba is nowhere near imi in terms of acads std....get ur facts right...iift's programme is more of foreign trade...this course is more of international management..appreciate the difference...if u knew the ppl who have passed from this course...u would not have asked the question abt industry acceptance...the course whose brainstorming session has ppl like Y.C. Deveshwar...Kamat..RPG...P.K Agarwal..among various others pitching in...i don think industry will have any problem absorbing ppl from that....also u must remember IMI is India's first company sponsored b-skool...n this is no small thing...

interaction among all courses are gr8....abt placement reports...coz the batxh of pgp is huge..therfore we get the market share of our web space...pgpim details will be up soon...

ciao.. :D

P.S. - if u dont want any other gyan...stop asking questions....coz after replying to u if get a first liner as ur last post...u dont feel replying to any more posts...u r new to this place..get forum etiquettes correct...it'll help u..

P.S. 1 - we roped in Prof Ratnam  ..he was with us for long..before he left for arnd 9 odd months to imt...he was one of us..n it was just a homecoming for him..

hi
regarding gettting my ett. right...i must say that firstly i am new to this forum...and as i said i'll get used to ....in time...and one more thing,i asked cos i was not having my facts right..i guess u would appreciate why i would have asked you had i known all the facts.
i appreciate the fact that u brought it up....cos i feel that's the way we all learn and grow.......but ur tone rather suggested that i comm. some kinda crime....anyways i never intended to flout the rules or even annoy you...cos had i such an intention i would not have waited for ur reply.....
anyways..now i dunno if i am supposed you thank you for ur prompt replies(might be it looks formal).
take care
be good :)
