Hi all,
I got thru IGNOU Entrance exam but city i'm located in, gives me option to go for Part time MBA also.

I'm confused what to do?

is part time MBA anyway better than IGNOU.
Now IGNOU Program is recognised by AICTE and moreover its course contents are very good.

please suggest me.

is part TIMe MBA also offered by IGNOU or some other institute ?? Part time MBA offers one networking opportunity as well as a better learning as faculty interaction is available but a lot depends upon the institute / or program. Kindly update on this

Hi

I think part time MBA from Gujarat MBA might be better as it might offer you better opprtunity as deepblue said and also it will help you learn better as IGNOU is totally self help method which put quite a strain so better try for Gujarat Univ MBA

Well prithvi frankly i would suggest u post the institute from where u doing the part time mba because there are so many univs out there and half of them should never be eligible to take the course but they are.. Though IGNOU is a recognised course so post in the b-school here frst let our mods tell u how the univ is or if i am updated to the information of the b-school i would surely reply to the same..!!

Hi Prashanth,

Both Part-time and Distance Learning MBA Programmes are undertaken by working professionals who can't spare two years for a regular two-year full-time MBA or afford the fee for these programmes, which is comparatively pretty high. Working professionals with these constraints along with family commitments opt for either Part-time MBA OR Distance Learning Programmes.

However, Part-time MBA Programmes require more efforts and involvement from the candidate. Usually, the candidate is required to attend classes on institute premises twice or thrice a week or on week-ends. There is regular face-to-face interaction with the faculty, and since the programme structure is much like the regular two-year programme, the duration for such a course is usually three years. It's as beneficial as a regular two-year course, and would come in handy if you wish to switch/start a career in management.

Some GOOD OPTIONS for Three-Year Part-time MBA Programmes offered are: -
1. Post Graduate Programme in Business Management for Working Managers (WMP) - IIM Lucknow - NOIDA Campus
2. Executive Management Programme (EMP) - MDI, Gurgaon
3. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-PT) for Working Executives - XIM, Bhubaneswar
4. MBA in International Business - IIFT Delhi
5. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Part-Time) - IMT Ghaziabad

Distance Learning, on the other hand, is totally done through correspondence with the concerned institute, and more easier to accommodate with your regular working hours. The fee is considerably less than regular Two-Year Programmes, even less than that of Part-time Programmes. The duration of course is usually two years. It is not as beneficial as a Two-Year Programme or Three-Year Part-time Programme, and would not come handy if you wish to carve a career in management. It is most beneficial for those who wish to remain in their current firm, but still wish to enhance their knowledge base and chances of promotion or better their current profile.

Some GOOD OPTIONS for Distance Learning Programmes offered are: -

1. IGNOU, Delhi
2. NMIMS, Mumbai
3. IMT, Ghaziabad
4. Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL), Pune
5. ICFAI, Hyderabad

Salary-wise, a part-time programme would give a higher return than a distance programme, and is a much safer bet anyday.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!!!

Hello,

It is up to you, choose what suits you if you are currently working, then part time M.B.A, is better option, but if are solely pursuing M.B.A, then go for regular course, it would be better.

Hi Prashanth,

Regarding Part-time MBA Programmes in Bangalore, you can check the following ongoing thread: -
http://www.coolavenues.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8414
You would find some good options there.

As for Symbiosis, SIBM-Bangalore does offer Executive MBA course, but the website says the course is still in development stage, so it would be sometime before it is actually open for admissions. Anyway, you can keep checking the following link from time to time: -
http://www.sibm.edu.in/Programmes-EMBA.html

Hope this helps.

Cheers!!!

Well, to your queries both are recognized by Distance Education Council, Government of India. But as per my own experience i would suggest you to go for HughesNet global Education as institutes like IIMs, IITs, IIFT, XLRI, MICA, MIT, etc are in collaboration with this and all these are reputed institutes. Moreover, these programmes have proper studies in their own campus and through two-way video conferencing. So all the best and choose the best for you:)
