Hello,

I am working as an executive in one of the leading Telecom PSU for last three years. I am a BE(Electrical) and an M.Tech (Electrical) (Regular course) from a renouned REC in india.

Now keeping in mind future career advancement i want to persue an MBA course. My job profile is such that i cannot afford any class room type MBA course.

Now if i think of career prospect beyond my present job, whether a corrospondence MBA will help me in my aspiration or i have to necesserily go for Part-Time course.

Is IGNOU sponcered MBA superior to that offered by SYMBIOSIS Institute or IGFAI institute or other institutes.
How about the EXECUTIVE MBA courses offered by IIM Calcutta or IIM Kozecode or XLRI through E-learning, is it superior than IGNOU MBA? whether part-time MBA from not so renouned institute will help !!!!!

Shall an MBA on a Part-time course treated at per with a corrospondence MBA course? Kindly suggest me.

What kind of specialization; finance or marketing or production will suit me in larger context. Pls. suggest me. I am waiting for an expert opinion particularly from an MBA counsellor or faculty from a renouned B-school

Sanjoy.

Hi

When it omes to correspondance MBA, probably IIMs which is offered by DirecWay/ Huges is somewhat better than IGNOU though also a lot more costly.

IGNOU is better than Symbiosis. and on stream take the one which you like that is either you can go for Tech or for HR or Operations. It shall be in line with your exp or job profile as you cant expect to shift to finance if say u r in operations say in network/ frequency planning.

However having said this, you must evaluate about the benefits of correspondance program as in India they are not considered much by corporate india and do not srve much purpose apart from helping in an increment / promotion in a pSU and for that matter IGNOU is quite good and economical.

U need to have clear goal for all this hassel of part time ducation, and if it fits that then go for it.
