BSE Training Institute, also known as BTI, runs a three month part time Certificate Programme on Capital Markets jointly with the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, which is highly popular programme in the Indian financial markets. Successful participants of this programme are awarded certificates by the University of Mumbai. Any graduate stock broker, sub-broker, Investment Consultant, Portfolio Manager, professional from the Depository, DPs, Banks, Insurance Companies, Mutual Funds, Custodians, Clearing houses, Financial Institutions and Management students is welcome to take advantage of this comprehensive programme.

National Stock Exchange (NSE) has been running a certification course i.e Certification in Financial Markets (NCFM) since 1998 which aims to educate ppl towards financial markets.

The Test is also offered through the Internet to enable candidates outside the designated test centres to take tests at their convenience. This allows flexibility in terms of testing centres (http://www.nse-india.com/content/ncfm/ncfm_testcentres.htm), dates and timing and provides easy accessibility and convenience to candidates.

NCFM Modules
NCFM currently tests expertise in the following modules:
Financial Markets: A Beginners' Module

Capital Market (Dealers) Module
Securities Market (Basic) Module
FIMMDA-NSE Debt Market (Basic) Module

Hi all,

I have just finished up my MBA(finance). During the curriculum, I've passed out NCFM - capital market, derivative and depository modules. It helped me a lot. This is due to this certifications only, I got an opportunity to work as a management trainee at kotak security.

This certificates it self do not lead to a new job, for MBA like us - we should use these certifications as an add-in tool which makes our profile attractive to employers and also acts as a proof of our knowledge.

Thats it,
Suresh :)

Hello All,

Since I am interested in Finance I can only talk abt certifications related to the field of finance..
This thread is4 certifications for profile building but i do hope ppl do stuff which not just add a bullet point in ur CV but also something in which u r interested in and not just waste money and time without knowing how much this certifications carry weight...
The ppl here are talkin abt NSE/BSE certifications in capital, derivatives, commodities market, depositories etc.. one of my friendswho has done a few certifications in derivatives and capital market..
Very frankly speakin he also did it for profile building but the truth is this NSE/BSE certification really don't carry any weight.. this is his personal experience... even if u do this certifications, u will gain basic knowledge but no major "profile building" will happen..
If u seriously wanna build profile in finance then CFA/FRM/PRM are best options, agreed they take time, are costly and difficult but they add more value both to ur CV and Knowledge..
And just for TCS guys if u want to learn something abt finance then TCS has internal certifications from FTC in Investment Banking, Wealth Mgmnt,etc.. u get certificates for it(so one more bullet point), u gain something and i feel its better then just orkutin in office .. so gud option for TCS'ers with less load in office..

P.S. CFA/FRM/PRM themselves are very different from each other, so research well before wat u want to do.
bye

Hi,

You can go to NSE office in Mylapore opposite to Yello pages in Dr. Radhakrishnan road. For each of the course - you need to pay a DD of 1000 or above based on the course, the material would be provided by them. When you feel ready to take up the online objective type negative score test then, request for a slot that week and take up the test in the same building, the results will be declared immediately.

hi
u can appear for NSE/NCFM Modules just to add on to ur CV;meanwhile u'll gain some more knowledge.
also some organisations specifically ask their employees to clear these exams before joining,so it will be an advantage for you anyways.
u can check www.nseindia.com (http://www.nseindia.com) to know about various modules and registration process.

which module would be the best for me to begin with?i am pursuing my graduation and preparing for CAT 2008.

deepblue

first give CAT and dont open too many frontiers. NSE/BSE exam is a side dish not main course, so first focus on CAT and then think of it depending upon your job profile.

I think you should try NCFM. Though there is no official training program from NSE they do provide some cumbersome material of about 400 pages theory.:frown And the derivatives module book is sleek as far as the looks go , but the content, they want you to understand the entire "theory of relativity" with only e=mc(square).. ..

Super stuff.

Finally, NSE has launched certifications in Equity Research and Merchant Banking.

Go to the NCFM website for more information.

These would be helpful for people who want to enter Investment Banking roles and profiles.
