Hello everyone! I have a decision to make (quickly) and would appreciate any help in this matter. I am undecided about whether or not to take up an executive MBA program at XIME Bangalore. Not sure whether such a program will be more beneficial vs. a purely correspondence MBA program like Symbiosis offers. The XIME program is instructor-led and details are available at http://www.xime.org/Executive_Program/overview.asp

I will of course be juggling work, home and the MBA program. I will soon be working for a PR firm and plan one day to set up my own.....ergo the MBA program....

So, can anyone help? Part-time instructor-led course at XIME? Or MBA via correspondence from Symbiosis?

Hi

Faculty lead program is always superior to a pure distance learning MBA as you wont get the benefit of interating with your peers, making presentations, and learning from faculty as dostance learning programs get reduced to an excercise in finishing assignments. So that will be better but you need to get a feel of XIME faculty. i think that is very imp

Thanks for the advice. Do you know anyone who has completed this course from XIME? Also, in future, should I wish to switch from Corporate PR to Marketing (the two disciplines work hand in hand anyway), do you think this degree will help?

I would advise you to go in for executive MBA program Go in for XLRI exe-pgp program. It is a three year program for working professionals and you get a degree of regular MBA that a regular XLer gets. Also this year onwards they have started off with lateral placement for their batches. You may also think of GMP program but you need to quit your job for an year to pursue it. You get an execitive diploma for pursuing this course. Placement is provided for the batch of GMP this year onward. If you need more info then contact me at sri_nitin at yahoo.com

In executive program you have to be in XL for 20 days thrice an year so it is the best course you can think of while working. It has a lot of value in market as it is considered at par with their regular program

GMP is a One Year General Management programme at XLRI , must have three year Bachelor's Degree and at least three years of relevant managerial experience.

You can check the following link http://www.coolavenues.com/mbasp/1year_mba_1.php3 to read first hand details of program contributed by XLRI student.

Go in for a programme that is recognised by AICTE or UGC . XIME's program is recognised by AICTE and Part-time MBA should be for a duration of three years because it does takes 3 years to cover what's covered in a full-time MBA .

Did u check out Christ College . They have part-time MBA from AIMA and Pondicherry Univerisity.

Executive MBA's of 1 year duration are creash courses .

hi
Frankly I cant comment on possibility of better job prospects as these are part time courses. In long term it might help but in short term I am not very sure.

Can any one give some informations about the 1 year executive program in XIME? How would it fair with the other programs?

As I am a family man with lots of responsibilities and commitments its a tough decision for me to quit an ok paid job and join a ful time program. My worry is after taking a risk and completing the course will I land in no mans land. How much market value does this program carries? and how about the industrial reputation. How about the faculty? Part of XLRI? Ranking ?

Guys, if you can share some information it would be great.

Kindly reply.

I missed some of my opportunities due to lack of awareness, methods and poor approach. I want to do MBA (not interested in corres) and keen with IIM’s. I am willing to put my whole for CAT. Kindly advise me if it is possible for me to go with cat and knock the door of IIM’s and Top B Schools. If it take 5 years for me to clear cat then my age will be 35. I am active guy with normal temperament.I
Is it possible or impossible? (What ever it may be please tell as such)
Waiting for your renowned advice.
