It has all information that you wish to know about JMET. http://www.coolavenues.com/admiss_process/adm_process_jmet1.php3 you can also try for NITIE coolman 08-13-2006, 12:42 PM I just want to know why the MBA provided by IITs is only for Engg. This might be an odd question. 1 more thing, is that they only have focus on the MBA for technology. Does anyone have any idea about their 3 years part time course. swati.gupta 08-15-2006, 06:52 PM Hi IITs dont offer all branches of MBA and focus on technology as they have significant resources there and dont have support faculty in Finance & marketing. In fact MBA offered by IITs and NITIE is nothing but M.Tech in Industrial Management in which admission was made through GATE. In order to capture MBA hoopla , they have just launched a new course with an MBA tag where they can get good fee rather than paying 5k in scholarship per month. so that is smart strategy from IITs and NITIE ;) iiitm 09-07-2006, 01:02 PM Hi. Swati Can you elaborate on what basis you have made the above comments. According to my knowledge any institution which is affliated to central govt. has to give strong reasons before starting any course. There is a standing commitee of experts which decides the course details and other things. They cannot afford to launch any course like any other private institutes. Thanks Alok Hamlet 09-07-2006, 01:53 PM Hi IITs dont offer all branches of MBA and focus on technology as they have significant resources there and dont have support faculty in Finance & marketing. Don't know whether you are an IIT alumnus or are just speculating and claim that something is right simply because u think it is right... 1) IITs dont offer all branches of MBA??? Which IIT are you speaking about?? Not the Indian Institues of Technology @ Bombay, Kgp, Delhi, Kanpur, Chennai or Roorkee for sure... coz in my knowledge ALL these IITs offer all branches of Management. Visit the websites of these IITs for a snapshot of placements as well. 2) MBA @ IITs / NITIE is M.Tech. ??? Feel like LMAO on such statements... Won't be much surprised if the lady here calls M.B.A. from Sloan School of Management (MIT) - ranked fourth M.B.A. in the world... another M.S. program :( For people in IITs go through the same subjects that any B-School in the world does... Marketing Management, Financial Management, Strategy, HR... when did any Industrial Engg. do that??? ROTFL !!! 3) Pity Ms. Gupta again... 5k schol is granted by govt. of India to M.Techs. and not by IITs... This lady has surely missed out something in her life... coz of her whimse... just two cents - "Dikhawon pe mat jao... APNI AKAL LAGAO !!!" :D Hamlet 09-07-2006, 02:23 PM I just want to know why the MBA provided by IITs is only for Engg. This might be an odd question. 1 more thing, is that they only have focus on the MBA for technology. Does anyone have any idea about their 3 years part time course. Well, its not true that IITs offer MBAs ONLY to Engineers. The basic requirement, on the contrary @ IITs is similar to any world-wide renouned MBA program... Minimum 4 years of graduation with Mathematics as a subject in any year... This criterion is the same for all global B-Schools... Since in India, engg. is one ciurse that is four years... the misconception prevails... Otherwise, M.Com., M.Sc., B. Arch. and even M.B.B.S. - all are perfectly elligible to take JMET and admission in IITs...
