Question MAT vs CAT

Im aware that for all B-schools accepting MAT score,it is only a selection stage and after that your selection is based solely on your performance in 10th,12th & grad and your performance in Gd &Pi in the percentage of 60% & 40% respectively. Is this the same for all B-schools accepting CAT scores also?
My 10th score is 69%,12th is 65% & graduation is 58%(B.Tech). How much of a chance do i have provided i perform well in MAT?

If you perform well i the MAT exam and the GD/PI as well, then you'll surely get through one of the good colleges. Acads do play an important role in selection process but even with an average academic backgroung many good b-schools like Alliance-bangalore, Christ-bangalore,IILM Gurgaon/Lodhi road, Amity take in students having a decent MAT score and a well rounded personality...

Thank you for ur advice, sanskriti. Actually i was informed about this admission procedure by an alumni of Christ- Bangalore. Is that percentage ratio for GD/Pi & academics true?

Some institutes like Alliance and Christ do consider ur academic background...But even in christ there are courses like international MBA wherein you don't need to fulfil such conditions... While its not necessary that all the top institutes have this criteria of selection.

Thank you aakanksha. I believe you are a student of IILM, does ur institue take into consideration academic background?
Does b-schools taking CAT scores also consider academic background for admission?

Not all but many B-schools considering CAT shortlist students based on their profile which includes their acads as well.

IILM selects its students based on their overall performance in MAT, GD/PI and overall personality. If you don't have good acads but prove your competence to the interview panel, you'll have high chance of getting selected.
For students who have a good academic background its an added advantage as they can avail scholarships upto 100% or 50%. For details regarding that visit http://www.iilm.edu.
