Default ISB Rules..IIM Days are gone..

Hey guys

I m sorry to say this but I strongly feel that IIM days are going to go very soon as the Indian Govt. is trying to impose that Quota stuff which would definately lower the value of IIM...I dont know what is gonna happen to the cream of IIM which will impact the placements at IIM which I feel would definately go down....Becoz these MNC want quality And I think as of now across India ISB is the only instt that offers the Best in terms of management education...

I am sorry guys but IIM are no more IIM I am there would not be any brand called IIM...

It is only gonna be ISB...what do you guys say..Please discuss..

FYI...I m not a student at any of the above mentioned instt. but after all the news and the placement these are the personal views I have regarding both the instt..

Please discuss.......

Anyways I m planning to apply to US and about to take my GMAT...I have no plans of doing my MBA from India...

Thanx & Best Regards,

Amit

i agree. If quota is implemented IIMs ability to impart quality education will be seriously impacted while ISB has proved that it can get quality profs from world over.

not so fast guys. Jury is still out on quota issues and given the SC prespective, it is not that Govt will have a cakewalk in term of putting OBC quota through the IIMs throat

Default Hey Guys!!!

Thanx for sharing your viewpoints...

I understand what Ramki is trying to say but dude if not this year then definately next year it is going to be implemented.. This was the strategy used by our Govt to delay the admission process so as to make IIM mentally prepare that next year this is going to be implemented for sure and that is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I believe this OBC is going to be implemented at any cost..

neways need more views to reach a meaningful conclusion..

Thanx & Best Regards,

Amit

Dude thanks for the opinion

Though you are right that quality may be sacrificed but u should know the facts first
1. Faculty is adequate to handle the ppl
2. Compare the placement figures of ISB and IIM
3. Compare the diversity of jobs
4. Compare the alumni network (most important)

ISB will take years to build that brand. One should understand that avg age in ISB is atleast 3 yrs more than that of an IIM guy and a majority of big companies prefer younger ppl ....... this is based on facts because I am a oart of IIM community and know the system well

well i am also from IIMs and whatever you said was true in past but no loger valid. Let OBCs flood the gates and IIMs will vanish from that top grade scenario.

Default Hey guys!!

Thank you ARAGORN_STRIDER and DEVANG for sharing your views..

I think this discussion is getting interesting day by day...

I agree with what ARAGORN_STRIDER is trying to say but again that might be the case way long back but in the present scenario I would still agree with DEVANG...

ARAGORN_STRIDER we cannot look at the issue in emotional manner but we have to do the analysis of the issue at hand in more practical manner so as to draw realistic conclusions rather than running around the bushes thus reaching no conclusion.....

Present scenario is going pathetic and it seems for sure that govt. gonna impose the OBC quota next year..and once this happens then it is for sure that IIM WOULD NO LONGER BE IIM ANY MORE as the quality of students would take a major toss that would directly hit the placements and ofcourse the package and it would also affect the companies visting the campus of the respective IIM..

if this happens then I m proud to be not a part of IIM...

Guys please dont take me rude but this is what I feel about our so called INDIAN GOVERNMENT which is always busy in ruining the best instt in the country...THIS IS REALLY VERY SAD!!!!..

Please share your views...

Thanx & Best Regards

Amit

Post comparision are good but.........

sorry the above commenters , i have something to express ,i am respecting to all the comments but watch the todays scenario what happend. intjhe ranking of b school done by the business today proves that the iims will re3main as iim after introducing the quotas. why u r not taking the comparision between iim-l and isb .in 2007 both the instt have the placement as good but whqat it happend the isb didn't come under the 30. where the isb went out. plz cheak it because in the peoples intellectuals the goodwill for the iim will remain for alonger period of time even the qouta introduced or else what will happen .

Default comparing ISB and IIMs

hey amit dnt u tnk tht the no. of IIMs is also the reason behind their brand formation. We have six IIMs but only single ISB which is givng a gud competition to IIMs.
