Default How is MS from BITS Pilani (part time course)

Hi COOL AVENUES,

I am new to this group.
I have completed my BTech in IT from MNIT, Jaipur.
I have 3 yrs of exp in s/w industry, now looking for higher studies.
Preferably technical side. MS or MTech
I have looked from MS from BITS Pilani (part time course)
There are some of the doubts:
1. Is this course a valuable one?
2. Could a semester be skipped?

Hi

I have dropped the idea for this course. I have discussed the same with my friend who has passed out from IIT-B (MTech), he told me that there is no value in doing that as part time.
But as my stream is Computer Science and I have done the same courses as mentioned in MS program of BITS, it is not wise decision to go through the same courses again just for the sake of degree.

Regards,
Amit

Hi amit,
I have done B.E. in Instrumentation and advance diploma in computing from CDAC

Do have any clue, if the M.S. awarded by BITS will consider as a valid master degree for Doctoral program from other universities in India and abroad?

The DLPD division of BITS SUCKS!!!!!

I have posted 3-4 queries in their but never got any reply back.

The content on the site also not properly updated.

Shame they call themselves a premier institute.

I am working in IBM Bangalore.
I heard from few people that MS from BITS will add some value.
but no one clearify me that what kind of value will it add.
As this is a distance learning will it be usefull, will it increase knowledge leve as per MS Degree level?
This way will be correct for reaching PHED or increasing value inside the organization??

Please clearify me.

Hi

BITS distance learning course is not AICTE approved so
you will not be able to do PhD from any other university other than BITS after this course.

BITS does employ high level of standards when it comes to the MS courseBecause they do an extensive research on the industrial trends and accordingly tweak the course content. Hence it certainly has a value when it comes to the kind of course and their rigor of high standards set towards the exams.

One of my friends did his MS as part time from BITS pilani, he had 6 years of experience at that time. Now he is working for JP morgan - CHASE in New jersey. It has bright prospects.
