INFERNO AT SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF TELECOM MANAGEMENT
SITM, Pune organized a rock concert at their Lavale campus, on the 17th of September, ’08, the first event on the new campus! Christened Inferno ’08, the concert saw major Indian rock bands performing at the venue. Lavale campus hosts three Symbiosis institutes namely SITM, SIBM and SIMC and a huge crowd of enthusiastic youngsters could be seen.
The concert started off with Hourglass. A band formed by five enthusiastic youngsters – Nikhil, the vocalist, Amit on leads, Sagnik on rhythm guitar, bassist Shirish, and beats of drums by Himanshu, made the crowds rock and roll to their music. They mostly played covers, including “Californication” by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” by Guns n’ Roses, and “Paranoid” by Ozzy Osbourne. They ended their show by a great rendition of “Vande Mataram” which had the entire crowd swaying to their beats. Soaring vocals combined with great beats had the crowd asking for more.
Next came the heavy metal band Vyzasa. The band comprises of 5 members- Aman on vocals, Rajeev on bass guitar, Nitin on Drums, Manish on Rhythm guitar and Harshad on Leads. Armed with their pulsating heavy metal riffs, they proved that everybody can enjoy their kind of music. This band performed a mix of their original compositions as well as covers. They immaculately covered bands like ‘The Gates’,‘Arch Enemy’ and ‘Death’. The overall sound of the band was superb taking into considerations the perfect harmony of double bass drums, heavy bass riffs and baritone vocals. All in all theirs was a great performance and an amazing treat for fans of the heavy metal genre.
Next came the headliners for the evening, the winners of I-Rock ’08, the band SILVER. They were the National winners of Yamaha Roxx 2008, represented India in Taiwan at the Asian Beat 2008 and enthralled audiences at JRO 2008 (Chennai). Silver comprises of 4 members – Mahesh on vocals, Rishi on bass, Savio on leads, and Amit on drums. Silver came up with an entire list of all original compositions. With their amazing ethereal melodies and resonant tone combined with their hard rock influences, they really made it a heady listening experience. They rocked the show starting with “Wine and Women”, followed by “Silver Kiss”, “Feel the heat”, and a perfect hard rock original, “Desire”. Silver, with their enthralling performances, involved the audiences in each and every song. The crowd was following vocalist Mahesh’s every move and complimented by joining him in the songs. Along with him, bassist Rishi, drummer Amit and lead guitarist Savio kept the audiences grooving with their respective enthralling solos. Every member of the band stood out in their own brilliant way and ended their set list with a popular crowd friendly track “Funkie Junkie”.
The event was a huge success with the crowd being treated to various genres of rock music. It was one of the very few events to have an equal number of covers as well as originals. Generously supported by Idea and Spykar, the evening left the entire audiences of Symbiosis Lavale campus asking for more.

The process comprises of essay writing, extempore, group discussion and personal interview. There would be a technical interview for engineers. The technical questions will be mostly fundamental or from the final yr of Engg. Apart from this, the process requires you to have general knowledge, and other necessary skills for GD/PI. Also be clear about your inclination towards telecommunication sector, and read up some of the latest news.
