Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication organises Fest O' Comm
Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC), Pune, is organizing its annual magnum opus, Fest O’Comm, between the 6th - 8th of February, 2009, at the Symbiosis Knowledge Village, Lavale, Pune. Fest O'Comm or Festival of Communication has the distinction of being the largest on-campus communication festival in India since its genesis in the millennium year. True to its name, the event brings out the vibrancy of the field of communication. A seamless mélange of seminars and cultural events usher in a novel concept of student festivals that encompasses interactive learning with entertainment.
Several distinguished stalwarts from different works of life, like Tarun Tejpal, Arnab Goswami, N Ram, Vivek Law, Kunal Joshi, have been invited as speakers for the seminars to be held during FOC. This apart several fun activities, competitions and ‘music and masti’ is also promised during the fest. Like every year colleges from different parts of the country are expected to participate in Fest O’Comm.
With the grand theme- 'in the click of time', Fest O'Comm 2009 will have more than 30 colleges from across the country to its new lush green campus at Lavale, Pune and bring in the best of speakers to come and address the strong young crowd. The Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication is hosting its series of annual festival at its Lavale campus starting from the 1st of February 2009 up till the 8th of February, 2009.
The festival will have workshops with reputed names in journalism, film-making, photography, advertising, public relations and corporate communications participating. Showcasing talent through literary games and stage events is another highlight. The sundowners include events like choreography contests, fashion shows, Mr and Miss Fest O’Comm and a music concert
Following the horrors of Mumbai Attack the students at SIMC have decided to take a stand against terrorism. We are launching a youth movement against terrorism – Combat Terror, on the 5th of February 2009 at the Symbiosis Knowledge Village at Lavale. The event will mark off an initiative taken by the students to take a leading role against fighting terrorism with the help of some positive action taken together. Eminent personalities like Teesta Setalvad, Zaffar Iqbal, A.N.Roy will be speaking at the occasion of the event.
Over the years, FOC has evolved with the burgeoning changes that have characterized the landscape of media and communication in the country. It has become the perfect interface between the industry and aspiring professionals and has established the leadership of SIMC within the communication fraternity generating a creative space for the interaction of budding media professionals.
