see if u r starting in may...basically u have to cover all the things..but cover it fast..n also simultaneously...that will mean...u'll have to invest more number of hours....my take will be...

may-june - get on the fundamentals of Quant, DI, VA....

July - do a brush up on the fundamentals...n take a couple of tests..just to get a feel of it..

Aug - take a few sectional tests...by this time ur basic quants n DI fundas should be clear...try learning and practising a few tricks.. in VA by this time u should have a hang of the word lists....(word list is a never ending thing n continues till cat)...also by this time ur reading speed should have improved

Sep-Oct - give mock cats...sim cats....if u face any problems..brush ur fundamentals again...decide on ur cat strategy..be flexible on which section to start with..n which to do later..(if u have choice in the paper)...also do a thorough analysis on each n every test u take...coz every second spent in analysing adds on the final cat/xat day...it makes u more confident...n also makes u learn new tricks

Nov (till one week before Cat) - give more national tests....get ur strategy perfect...build on ur confidence...also if u need any last minute brush up do it....

The week before Cat - chill out...dont take too mush load...watch a couple of movies...dont take too many tests...i'll advise just take 1 in the mid week....also have a strong belief n be confident that u r foin to crack cat..n the D-day will be ur day...

that should suffice...abt the hrs to be invested...i think 2 hrs on weekdays and 3-4 on weekends would be perfect...but hours should only be cat hrs...work hard n u'll get success

ATB for ur future...believe one thing..every battle is faught in the mind...if u win that battle u'll definitely win the battle on the ground...

ciao..

well,i am a starter in this site!!don't know how to give a new post...help me on that 1st...
secondly...i am a doc who is weighing his options about giving CAT...what i understood from various posts is that this exam deals heavily on maths...a subject which i left 6yrs ago(though i had a very good engg. rank i decided to go other way..)...6yrs ago i was good in maths but now i have lost all confidence...people saying u then try evening/correspondence course...but deep down i feel maths is conquerable....but how??CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MANY DAYS DOES ONE TAKE TO GET A SOUND GRIP ON MATHS??well for other subjects i don't have much fear...so hoping they won't be a deterrant to my prep...

Default Maths in CAT

Hi Somnath

If you can go through a rigrous course like MBBS, you can do much better in CAT and MBA. Maths is easy and you shall take around 2 montsh to master it. Dont go for two many opinions and Just do it. Lot many ppl with workex give CAT after leaving studies for more than 5 -6 years ( leave alone maths) and if they without any touch with studies, full busy work life can crack it , then you have 100 times better chance

as they say Just Do it

all best wishes,
