Hi u all there,
the first thing that will catch ur breadth here is the serene campus at Joka.far frm the city life , amidst the seven lakes......... it is a true jokaland , as we call it fondly.
woow, it is morning :roll: ........................... the lecture hall becons us but hey lemme have my brkfast. no time :wink:
ok i will just have a bread slice and some coffee
the prof is ready with his/her side of the story and the fundaes . The class starts detaching frm the rest of the world and into the corporate boardrooms, cracking real life cases................
but that happens with every B-school . so what is it different in IIMC.
well well, do not jump into conclusions.
the profs pour in fundaes and make sure that u have sound theory bcoz witht theory there can be no practicality and till eternity they will be maaro fight to get ur concepts sound.
seems that the fundaes just got too heavy, and students start chanting BREAK in unison. the prof continues on for another couple of minutes and it is coffee/tea/.... time now. the caffeteria outside starts buzzing bfor the GOD(read the prof. here no prof is less than the GOd ) summons every1 back to the court and we once again soar off.....
finished with the lectures for the day............chalo .volley aandoz .
the basky and football are already in full swing in the basky court and the lib ground .
the floodlit volley court will pull even non players to try their hands.
the newly completed baddy court is just becoming a part of the everyday life of ppl out here. the health freaks are either having their rounds around the lakes or sweating it out at the gymnasium.
wait a min.................. i forgot FOOTER VOLLEY, the very own sport of IIM Calcutta. :idea: it rocks big time . u need to watch to believe it and we are the champions at this
dinner time and then ppl retire to their rooms to get some rest bfor the life once again swings into action arnd 10 pm.
the night canteen has just started and the maggis and the aaloo parathas and nimbu paanis keep us going whole night. there are meetings , cases presentations and the usual fun,adda , geelagiri .......(ask an iimcian what geelagiri is)
guess i forgot the most imp thing. the clubs.
jbs baroc serves the junta here just right ,as good as (if not more)any professional band. the nights that these guys put in practise are just too much and the best is the performance
the drams cell, well the performances that i have seen are just awesome. the kin'na effort that this cell puts in, is more than we put in for our mid terms and end terms. and that is why they give such brilliant performances.
inca(initiative for community action) keeps close to the people around us. this cell gives u a chance to try ur hands at consultancy . The NGO's around calcutta come in with their problems, visions .... etc and we , the students never disappoint them. some of the projects done by the incaites have helped the ngo's immensely and that is why they keep coming back year after year.
the intaglio team makes sure that we have the best biz fest across india, the e cell pitches in with i2I the biz plan contest with participants fromplaces like Harvard ..
the mar cell , fin club , the consult club never let the life at joka get dull.

The ER cell handles the press and media (sometimes i get jealous with viju bcoz the journalists, camera,newspaper reporters are arnd him,and he never let me get close to them. hmmmmmmmm)
and mind u, each of these cells have faculty coordinators which goes in to show the relationships that we share with our profs.


and lastly is the rounds of PPTs , one of the miost dreaded of creatures, which attacks the jokaland at unearthly times of 8 am types which is midnight for us jokaites .
i can go on and on and on but my other grp members of my marketing research grp will crucify me in the name fo having freerided . so le'mme go back to the books as i will have to get my part of the job done by midnight before we meet.
