Peculiarity around GMAT Scores

Hello readers,

I was hoping that someone would have an answer to this question. I understand that GMAT scores are always multiples of 10 so it is possible to get a score of 600 but not 601 or 605 for example. Curiously though, when I looked at statistics on average scores for particular schools, I saw scores where the units were values other than '0' e.g Harvard 707 etc. Now either these scores take writing assessment values into account or my assumption about increments/decrements of 10 is incorrect. Anyone able to shed some light on the phenomenon? Much obliged.

Hey Browsing,

Sounds like a good GMAT question in itself!!

Lets say the average pertains to 3 students who had scores of 700, 710, 700 respective.

The average of this school which makes offers to these students would then be 703.
