Default SDM IMD as the fastest growing B-School

HI! All;

I am Abhishek,a Ist year student at SDM IMD Mysore.
I am here to clarify a few queries about SDM IMD mysore.

Let me first begin with the event "GODS" Global Organization Developement Summit which SDM IMD is hosting. Its a one of its kind event in the history of any Indian B-School. Representatives from 50 countries are coming to SDM IMD to attend this event. Top B-Schools around the globe are also participating in this event like ( Stanford Business School, Harvard School of Business).
Corporates from Leading Indian Industry are also participating and INFOSYS and ISABS are the summit partners.
Vice President , MDs and other delegates of different organizations like TVS, Infosys, TCS, Polaris, Oracle, BG, Spi, Titan etc are also coming to SDM IMD campus.

Apart from this SDM IMD boasts of an eminent Infrastructure which is comparable with any of the best B-Schools in India.
Many faculties of SDM IMD are the visiting faculty in IIM-K and IIM-B.
Placements is always the prime concern of SDM IMD and companies like INFOSYS, TCS, POLARIS, MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA, ICICI BANK, TVS MOTORS, ORACLE to name a few have recruited from here.

SDM IMD always believes in the quality of education and ethics n that is reason why the Institute doesn't make a hype of its brand and quality.
If anyone needs to enquire more about SDM IMD then visit

hi! Surabhi,

Hope you will be in your best spirits as CAT is coming closer.
As far as placements are concerned, Last year we had Infosys(8), TVS(5), Mahindra & Mahindra(5) , TCS(4), Polaris(4) , Oracle(2), Pantaloons(12), IDBI(16), ICICI(12), Air Deccan(3), as the major recruiters who came to the campus and the average sals was 4.28 lacs, median sals was 4.0 lacs and max sals was 7.0 lacs but at the time of joining it went to 7.8 lacs by Infosys and this year there would be a lot more to see. Many of our seniors have already got PPO from MeriTrack, Pantaloon and Escorts etc.

Infra is best in itself. Campus is aesthetically designed and the campus is wifi enabled, we have single occupancy rooms with internet connection.

Last year the cuttoff was 75+ and this year i think it will be 80+.

Gudluck and if u have any further queries feel free to contact.
chill
abhishek

Default Placements@SDM-IMD

Dear all,
This is Prasad Dange, a final year student at SDM-IMD. Whe it comes to chosing a B-School, one looks forward to the placements. (I surely did that while chosing my B-School.) Its a fair practise though the stress should be more on value addition than placements. But one should think of return while making an investment which is that big. For that matter, Abhishek and his friends will take care of the value addition part as they are still there in the institue for more than one and a half year. As far as the placements are concerned, I take up the charge to inform all of you about it. So the story goes like this.

The placements for 2006 batch at SDM-IMD had been fantastic last year which beat all the past records and the average salary grew up to 4.28 lacs which was 1.5 lacs higher than the previous year with the highest salary offered being 7.05 lacs which was 3 lacs more than the previous year. The number of offers made to the passed out batch were 247 for a batch of 114 students.

This year the placements have started even 1 month earlier than the expected date (the official placement season starts on november 1st at SDM-IMD) with big recruiters fighting to get the earliest dates. These include companies like Oracle, Infosys, Telcon, Meritrac, TVS and many other. The first company to visit the campus was Oracle which shortlisted 13 candidates for final placement. Oracle offered a package of 5.76 lacs + perks. Infosys, Meritrac and Telcon are visiting the campus on he coming weekend (14th Oct., 16th Oct. and 18th Oct. respectively). SAP, TVS, Mahindra and Mahindra, Kennametal Widia, Cafe Coffee Day, Polaris, Wipro, TCS, Pantaloons, Fabmall, Food World, Air Deccan, IDBI bank, ICICI Bank, ING Vysya, Business Standard, Hindu Business Line, HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered, Titan, Citi Group and many more are waiting for the green signal to visit the campus and negotiating to the get earliest dates and grab the best talent.

The summer placements for the batch which is currently in the final year (my batch) has been astonishing. The students did their summer projects in many reputed organizations like ISRO, Indian Oil Corporation, Researve Bank of India, State Bank of India, Canara Bank, MICO Bosch, Delloite, Philips (Overseas assignment in China), Meritrac, Load Controls Ltd., Taegutec, Research International, Infinity Research, Symphony, Franklin Templeton, ICICI group, Business Standard, Escorts, Funskool and many more to mention.

For further information about the institute, post ur queries on this thread. Ur queries will be timely addressed by either me or any of my college mates. Feel free to interact. All the best for CAT.

Regards and Best Wishes,
Prasad Dange

hi devang,
the criteria for admimission in SDM-IMD is as follows:
1. We accept only CAT scores.
2. There will be a round of GD and interview after u get shortlisted by the institute.
3. There is no reservation of any kind for admissions.
4. The selection is purely based on merit.

ps: any score above 80 percentile in CAT may fetch u a call for GD & interview from the institute.

for any futher queries, post on this thread.

Prasad

hi technocrat,
the figure mentioned is CTC, as all the companies provide compensation in term of cost to company only. The usual practice now a days is that the fixed component of the salary tends to be less than the variable one. The highest salary was 7.05 lacs and was offered to 2 candidates (experienced) by infosys.freshers got 6.5 lacs CTC. The figure mentioned was the highest figure among the 114 students managers.

The breakup of CAT score, GD and PI is a confidential matter which is at the core of the admissions process and cannot be revealed publicly. Moreover, u'll not be shortlisted for GD & PI if u do not qualify for the minimum cutoff in CAT for our institute. As told in previous posts, the cutoff is expected to go somewhere above 80 percentile. If u have work ex., then the cutoff is relaxed somewhat.

I hope this satisfies the query. Feel free to ask and comment.
All the best.

Default Placements@2007

What does it take to be called a potential B-school: the possession of some core competencies that evolve over time.

For institutions like SDM IMD, some of these questions have not really mattered. Because for year on year, the institute has been growing; both in capabilities and opportunities for students. Final placement2007 were an expression of this same confidence, with students getting offer for varied roles.
PLACEMENTS 2007
This year SDM IMD was successful in attracting big recruiters with heavy packages. The growing visibility of the institute is reflected in campus placements. Even before the commencement of the placement week around 50 students out of the batch of 114 have already been recruited with highest sals reaching 8.5 lacs till now and average sals reaching around 6.00 lacs.
The roles of Business Analyst, associate consultant and management trainee been given by the biggies.
The big recruiters which are still waiting to grap the talents are HDFC, Citifinancial, SAP, TCS, ICICI, Mindtree consulting and many more.

There is still lot more to see so keep the finger's cross.

Chill
Abhishek

Thumbs up Beware!!!!!!

Beware: A huge wave called SDM-IMD is moving ahead to sweap out most of the jobs in the market. Its time again to let all of u know more about the placement activities going on @ SDM-IMD, Mysore.

Breaking news: 4 days, 4 companies, 48 students placed. Average package 5.74 lacs p.a.
The highest CTC offered is 8.5 p.a. and it is still under negotiation to further go up. The recruiters wanted to hire all the students who appeared for their interviews, but they had constraints on numbers to take from any institute and had commitments made to other colleges as well. Beware other institutes, SDM-IMD is coming in a big way. Be ready for getting ur jobs snatched by SDMites.
All the best to all....!!!!

Hi! swetang.

Till now we had Infosys, TCS, Telcon(Tata group), Meritrac on our campus.Infosys recruited 29 students as future managers from our campus with minimum CTC of 6.5 lac.
Our placement week starts from 1st week of nov and placements are in proccess & still there many companies waiting to grab the talent from the campus.
Hope i have answered ur query and rest of the information will be disclosed soon, so keep ur finger's crossed.

Cheers

Default Beware Again!!!!

Hi Swetang,

Thanks for bringing it to our notice. I guess, I missed the name of the company which offered the highest CTC till now. Actually the CTC of 8.5 lacs is offered by Infosys. The negotiations are still on and it might further go up. The minimum CTC offered by Infosys is 6.5 lacs p.a. Apart from Infosys, comapnies like Telcon, TCS and Merittrac have come for placements. 48 students are already placed in these comapnies with an average CTC of 5.74 lacs p.a. Many companies are trying hard and negotiating with placement office to get earliest dates to visit the campus.

For any further clarifications, please reply to this thread. Stay tuned to get the placement updates.

p.s.: No company ever asks any college to hide any information. If someone tells u like this, don't believe it from the next time.
