Global Recruiter's Top 100 Business Schools 2006
QS Research 1990-2006

Each respondent is designated as responsible for MBA recruiting within his/her company as a whole or division. They are asked to identify their geographical responsibilities, confirming whether they recruit locally in their domestic market, regionally, or globally.

QS further differentiates its research by the objectivity of its position as a third party operating between recruiters and business schools, by virtue of the long established contacts with recruiters who are willing to share information with QS, and by the bank of data on MBA recruitment and remuneration built-up over the last 16 years which allows meaningful trends to be identified over time.

4. TOP BUSINESS SCHOOLS IN 2006

MBA recruitment has continued at a high level into 2006 after the end in the lengthy recession in the MBA market around the world in 2005. With this increased recruiter activity, traditionally strong business schools have continued to produce impressive results in terms of recognition and usage by employers. There have also been a number of new schools, particularly in regions such as Asia, which have begun to receive considerable recognition. At the same time, others have become less popular. The associated QS research report: TopMBA.com International MBA Recruitment and Salary Report 2006 gives more details of current MBA recruitment worldwide and is available through www.topmba.com.

4.1 NORTH AMERICA

Harvard Business School (Harvard) and The Wharton School (Wharton) remain the most popular choices and take turns, year on year, at holding the most favoured position. This year Harvard has the narrow edge. There is great continuity in the top-10 most favoured US schools among recruiters, with only The Garvin School of International Management, Thunderbird, narrowly slipping out from a joint 10th place to 12th this year. Within this consistent top-ten group, Columbia Business School and the Sloan School of Management MIT show particularly strongly, having increased their positions to 6th and 3rd respectively, in a continuing upward, three-year trend. The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University (Duke) stabilizes in 8th place after being one of the highest climbing top-tier US schools in recent years.
